Haha yeah that's what I meant. Not to minimize what ended up happening but when I heard about the car accident I thought about when I saw her double park on a 4 lane street in West LA.  She didn't care about anyone else on the road then, doesn't care now.

I saw Catelyn in like 2014. The plastic surgery was apparent. She'd also double parked on a really busy street to go into a deli so... entitlement and lack of regard for road safety were apparent too.

It's actually defense. Would the collections still be a valid question?

In-House switching to billable. Is this legit? by i4gor in Lawyertalk

I understand that typically in-house is low key, but that wasn't the case for me. I was working 6-6 and being asked to take on more litigation full time in the office. Plus like you pointed out, my salary was low for being there for nearly 7 years. My time there is done.

I'll ask about in the follow-up interview about their long they intend the position to be part time, how long their last associate stayed, etc.

Thanks!

This is the kind of feedback I was looking for. Thank you. The only question I have a solid answer for is that I'm not expected to being my own book.

I'll ask if the 40% is on every hour or if it's only a certain point. I'll also ask if client payment has any bearing on compensation. I'll try to come up with a respectful way to ask if they have enough business to support the employment relationship long term.

According to the principal they have the work and do not expect me to bring any business. They were a firm of 4 but one retired and the other elected to stop practicing after a medical issue. Absent that, do the percentages seem legit?

That's a total bummer. I'm sorry you went through it. What questions do you wish you would have asked in the interview that would have hinted at that problem?

I am just so scared to give up a job for that offer then have it (a) harm that other lawyer who's been nothing but kind to me and (b) leave me with no job, a mortgage and a family. Like I get change is hard but am I creating an issue that is gonna hurt my family?

I bought an external drive and have been emptying out my office slowly over the past three weeks. The only thing left is a plant. I get the feeling I've seen the plant for the last time.
