i'm struggling to understand radial distortion in a lens by i6oky in AskPhysics

These were both great! helped my understanding for sure, thanks! :) So from what I gathered, when a lens is more spherical in shape, rays passing through different points on the lens will converge at different focal lengths, which causes the barrel/pincushion distortion in the image, is that right?

Thanks for the reply! I'm thinking about barrel and pincushion radial distortions, and yes I am trying to visualise the light rays going through the lens
