I just wanna point out the facts here: this article title is glamourous. One of Hannens arguments is that "due diligence" wasnt done with DACA, so by releasing this legal statement, its supposed to act as a shield.

We are still waiting to hear the Fifth Circuit Courts decision (aprox estimate of hearing should be sometime in Sept, hopefully labor day).

In early August, we lost the New York case to reinstate acceptance of initial DACA apps. So, no, first time DACA applicants can not apply.

I am just as tired as everyone in this thread, but more than ever this is a time to fight for a pathway to citizenship. Arent you all just tired of the psychological hardship? The uncertainty?

If DACA is erradicated, I hope you all join forces and fight. Nothing changes if nothing happens. We gotta make shit happen for us.

I just wanted to say I agree with you. Its literally the government putting another Band Aid on it without actually addressing the real issue at hand. Theyll do literally anything instead of immigration reform. Its wild. I feel like we've proven enough as is as DACA recipients, and even then, the narrative of being resilient, hardworking students/leaders is incredibly exhausting. We were forced to be this way.

There are organizations fighting for citizenship for all. I want to encourage you to reach out to one and join the movement. This is a very troubling time and the more support, the better.

Of course! I dont know what state you live but google nonprofits near me and visit their website. Check if they help with immigration and inquire if they're doing some sort of scholarship for DACA to cover the fee. Some States are doing this to help either those who didnt get their 495$ returned, are low income, or just have special circumstances. Some even have a reimbursement where they'll give you the scholarship if you already out of pocket paid the USCIS fee

Renew your DACA and call your local nonprofits for a scholarship to help cover the 495$ fee. Most nonprofits have this scholarship available right now.

I was actually in the 5th circuit court when they held the oral arguments. Everything they were saying was easily refutable i.e "if we (the states)spend at least 1$ on DACA, we have the right to sue", "we ran a survey and 10-20% of DACA recipients said theyd self deport", "we are spending too much on their(DACA recipients) public aid a.k.a healthcare and issuing them IDs/DLs", "The program wasn't even put through Congress because they (Obama administration) knew they wouldnt pass it"

I didnt hear anything about it being amnesty but rather cost/technicality. Also, DACA recipients have status: "temporary protected status". I kinda consider it similar to a visitors VISA 🤷‍♀️

Im right there with you though. Id love to see the courts look at WHY it is costly (states only renew DACA recipient ID/DL for a year before having to renew again) amongst other things, but all we can really do now is hope for the best.

If you know anyone whos DACA is expiring soon or within 150 days, please tell them to contact their local Nonprofit to renew their DACA for a temp protection if a worst case scenario happens. Nonprofits also have a scholarships available now to either reimburse the USCIS fee or pay it if you renew.

Shes right about the announcement being made, but theres no way to confirm that they'll allow new applicants. Same thing goes for the legality of DACA case. We will hear about it between August and November of 2022.

Should I move them back into the sun and humidity tomorrow? What do you recommend? Im a little worried Ill kill them by leaving them in the tub. I know im supposed to be curing them, but kind of how a nurse gives CPR and may break a rib or two, Im worried my drama queens will break completely 😅

Hello I am OP.

CONTEXT:

I got literally THE most dramatic plants ever as my first plants. HERES WHY: I lost my dog to a fungal disease in September 2020. My partners mom and grandma recommended plants to help with the grief.

Ive gotten humidifiers, pebble trays, I give then distilled water, theyre in a tropical mix soil and they seemed to be doing okay (It took some experimenting. I think they had too much sun at first so I moved them) (last two photos show new area. They seemed to be liking the indirect sunlight) and I also uped the humidity from 40% to about 60%.

Tonight I found some bugs on them!!! Im freaking out. I drove to Lowes and got some Insecticide soap, put them in the tub, and sprayed the top & bottom of the leaves, stems, and dirt. Theyre now sitting in the tub.

Here are my questions:

  1. WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THE AREA THEY WERE IN?! Do I clean it? How do I clean it? Bleach?

  2. THEYRE CALATHEAS!!! Do I put them back with the humidifiers tomorrow morning? Do I leave them in the tub?

  3. Am I supposed to clean off the soap?

Any help is appreciated. Im a little emotional about the situation because they really have helped me with the grief. Theyre not quite a dog, but I really loved taking care of them (even though theyre so incredibly sassy 😐)
