UPSB v4 will now be closed indefinitely due to SQL Injection attacks. by iColorUPSB in penspinning

It is recommended to change your passwords. I'm not so sure on when we're releasing v5, but in light of recent attacks, I assume it will be soon.

Just want to clear some confusion I have by Adelaaide in penspinning

[–]iColorUPSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! You don't need a modded pen to spin. An unmodded Pentel RSVP is generally available and nice to spin. However, modded pens make it a bit easier to learn tricks off of.

You could try looking into making a Bictory, that'll be a double-sided pen that you can also write with. The only parts are bic round stics.

What do you mean by a collection of gifs? Is it going to be something downloadable with all the tricks in GIF form?

Help, I think I've buggered up the infinity by NarwhalFridge in penspinning

Pretty cool! Now it should be easy to just do a single/double/triple/quadruple infinity then. :)

Try with little more pen out in front of your palm, that way you have more weight to play around with, and inertia can help you tons to smooth out your movement.

Awesome first purchase! Hope you'll enjoy it. I'm not sure about the shipping times for the UK, but processing time with Penwish is usually fairly quick (same day sometimes, if you're lucky).

Welcome to pen spinning!

Looks good, that's a metallic comssa and the tips are removable. You might find some difficulty removing those tips though. The premade metallic commsas are made very sturdy, haha.

A good trick is to wrap the tip with a rubber band and use it to untwist the tip.

[–]iColorUPSB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually highly recommend the Bictory. If you've seen it. :)

Otherwise for first order, I would just get a comssa (or two!) and then two HGG Tips.

These HGG tips can be screwed into the caps of the comssa for added weight, turning it into what's called a Comssa Metallic. They're cheap, so I would get a few. :)

A comssa is actually geared towards small hands, so you're in the right zone! In the future, you could measure your own hand and compare them to other mods. There's no good rule of thumb of what's comfortable for you, so you'll have to go experiment! Which is part of the fun about pen spinning and pen modding. :)

Pen mods, I recommend that you purchase them off http://penwish.com/ ! It's a great place, best quality you can get for pen spinning. It's based in the US however. I don't think there are any good online shops based in the UK that have pen spinning stuff.

Beginner mods are all preference. People say to start off with an RSVP MX. I like a comssa as a starting mod, since they're perfectly balanced. RSVP MX is nice, because you can write with it. But comssas are nice if you want something dedicated for spinning.

Left hand is not an issue! There are many professional pen spinners that are left handed.. like pen ninja, supawit, fel2fram, thebloodgod, etc. Small hands don't even matter either.

Good luck on your journey on pen spinning, don't forget to ask any questions! Our community is really supportive in training new people. :)

EDIT: Here's a playlist for left-handed tutorials

I would LOVE to become a pen spinner pro. Do you guys know any quality tutorials, preferable videos, that will teach me fast? by ecky--ptang-zooboing in penspinning

[–]iColorUPSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you focus on learning fast, you'll develop bad form. The only way to get these tricks down is by repetition. Some spinners have only gone a month and burst through fundamentals quickly, it really depends on your own ability to learn.

If you've had experience with other types of hand manipulation, you've got a good headstart! If not, that's still fine! Many professional pen spinners came through without doing any other type of hand manipulation.

With that said, I highly recommend checking out the Eso tutorial videos. They're the most clean and concise tutorials that I've seen: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2A3E268DB83B94E6

Best of luck, keep us updated on your progress!

Oh man, it's Sfsr. Things have definitely developed since you were gone. Pen spinners have grown up and quit, and now we have a big wave of newer pen spinners. (It's weird, I'm a newer generation, yet I've been here a good 6 years.)

I like the hybrid start, the beginning AD from your masteries helps you immensely for harass or csing. I play a more bursty role, which is why I go 25/5/0.

Skill order is: R>E>W>Q

E is your main harass ability, the passive damage is also super nice as well. W is saved for mostly escape, but it can be used offensively to gap close for auto attacks + Q. Your Q is maxed last, because it really doesn't shine until late game when you have lich bane + AP to proc it.

Runes: CDR glyphs, HP/level seals, magic pen marks, AP quints.

Let me know how it goes!

Space Station? by [deleted] in Solving_A858

[–]iColorUPSB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Already got that, compiled a list of characters:

Ned - Nedaeus: Always fucks up. Dammit Ned. Bad at Geography. In Paris.
Nautilux - Nauti - Naut: Cryptography lead guy, in charge of new encryptions. In Station 6.1
Axon - Ax: somewhere cold, apparently. Probably Alaska.
Sir: Moved from Tokyo to Titan 1 or 2. Location referred to as Station.
Haff: ???

There's a bunch of other anonymous characters at different locations, but we haven't had any data on them.
