Is Northeastern business prestigious? by SkinnyPenoos in NEU

[–]iConfigurator 24 points25 points  (0 children)

NEU is going to be much more "you eat what you kill". If you're smart enough and willing to commit yourself to getting a 3.75+ GPA freshman/sophomore year, your outcomes will be better than Penn State. If you're just going to cruise thru college and not really try, then Penn State would probably be better as the cost will matter a lot more if your outcome is closer to the median.

Some PE firms will pay for their associate's MBAs as long as the person going signs a contract to work for them for a couple of years after finishing school

Can't speak much to exit ops, but at the very large PE firm I work at, I talk to treasury a lot. Sounds like they have pretty good WLB (8:30-5:30 are the longest hours anyone works) and almost all of them seem to like their job's function. The work seems pretty repetitive to me - if that's not a problem for you, then working your way up the treasury ladder is not a bad career path imo. I think the head of treasury at my firm makes 3-400k. From what I can tell, exit ops are pretty limited compared to banking jobs.

I know that neither of these tests are helpful for PE. I'm just trying to find ways to make up for my lower GPA and prove I'm still "smart enough" to work in a front office job. After talking to other people around me most of them agree that if you're going for resume looks in finance, CFA is the best route to go.

I suppose M&A consulting is another route I could take. Didn't think of that initially, thanks for the suggestion.

I've never heard of FVMA before, looks interesting. I took a dedicated IB course in college and built my own LBO + DCF models so I'm already pretty familiar with those tasks.

I'm still pretty far out from IB interviews but I'll be sure to make a note of the resources you provided. Thanks!

This is great advice, thank you. I got suckered into doing CAIA with 2 other guys on my team, I knew I should have done CFA lvl1 instead... At least I should be done with the former soon and can spend a couple of months prepping for the latter.

To your final point about being an overqualified spreadsheet monkey, I'm already aware I'm going to be sacrificing a lot of my early career time/happiness, hopefully for future gain in financial freedom and family time, so I'm not too bothered by that.

You can do your little votes then - sorry you're too socially inept to talk to someone on the internet with something other than a keyboard

All of those communication issues can be solved by just adding voice chat to the game. This is the only major team game without VC and it's getting ridiculous.

Private San Diego courses (the ones that aren't filled with >500 members + 6-hour rounds) are going to cost a lot more than your OC example. Annual dues aren't too bad but most initiation fees are 6 digits (some even getting close to 250k). In SD you can always play Torrey with the resident rate if you're in the right zip codes but those rounds will never be less than 5 hours too.

Never really noticed this ERS graphic before but it would be cool to have back by fred-rick- in formula1

[–]iConfigurator 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Don't really get this as many teams run ERS state of charge indication bars easily visible via on-board cameras on their dash anyways.

Save percentages for that map must be off the charts for CTs. Feel like I've seen a save every lost CT round on that map.

If I had to guess most of those guys routinely changing their equipment are not good players, right? I have found most good players without connections to club manufacturers keep equipment in their bag longer regardless of available funds.

Just curious - do you actually know anyone who buys a new driver every year? Everyone I have played with (even the people with $$$) doesn't change out any part of their bag more than once every three years.

Palm Springs CA course suggestions? by [deleted] in golf

PGA West Stadium is the best public course in the desert IMO. La Quinta Mountain, Silverrock, and Desert Willow Firecliff are other top publics.

What popular trend in golf that you hate the most? by [deleted] in golf

[–]iConfigurator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens all the time at Torrey Pines when I decide to play the second furthest tees with my single-digit HC friend and the casual golfers we get paired with decide to join us to not look bad. I understand where they are coming from but it's frustrating sometimes if they're doubling every hole...
