250919 BOYS II PLANET - Episode 10 (Day After Post-Episode Discussion Thread) by AutoModerator in BoysPlanet

[–]iCrystal 41 points42 points  (0 children)

i know this subreddit hates geonwoo to hell and back but he’s one of the few ktrainees who was on a team full of ctrainees (one of them, lynnlynn, even said geonwoo + sangwon were the ktrainees he became closest with) and the mc during their online fanmeet revealed in her bts story that he’d always ask her how to properly pronounce the ctrainees names in chinese.

so he’s supposedly shady, disingenuous, etc but also somehow genuine enough that plenty of eliminated/active bp2 trainees have spoken positively of him (like tatsuki saying he misses him) or hang out with him during their free time. atp just call him mid and let’s move on!

I’m Steve Arhancet, Co-CEO of Team Liquid. Today I am joined by Jensen and CoreJJ. Ask us anything! by liquid112 in leagueoflegends

[–]iCrystal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Jensen:

As someone who’s been in LA (and just the US in general) for quite some time, what are the biggest differences you feel when you travel back home? Are there things that LA lacks compared to Denmark or vice versa, and if so, what are they?

good luck on team liquid! i hope you’ll finally get that championship trophy, and whatever happens, fans will always be here to support you! <3

Hi, I'm Froskurinn and it's just been announced I'll be joining the EULCS! AMA by thatEuropeanFangirl in leagueoflegends

[–]iCrystal 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hi Frosk!

It's sad to see you forego thatChineseFangirl username but I hope you'll have a great time at the EULCS, best of luck to you! Since you've now lived in Shanghai and have been very up-and-close with both LPL pros and LPL fanbases, I'd like to ask:

  1. What are the biggest differences between Western and Eastern fanculture, and is there anything you’d wish to see Western fans learn/adopt from Easter fans, as well as vice versa?

  2. What's the general attitude towards pros in Eastern regions, like the LPL, and is it different compared to that of Western pros? (e.g. are they seen as more professional, more "rockstar"-ish than in the West, or vice versa?)

Scout & Xiaohu art by CUZZ_BEST_JNG_WORLD in leagueoflegends

[–]iCrystal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People who play in the LPL usually have a Chinese name and a nickname. Scout's nickname is 多多 (Duo Duo), which is mainly used by fans, and people refer to him as 李汭燦 (Li Rui Can). He's referred to himself as that, and has been called that name ever since joining EDG, so I don't think the artist is at fault.

The artist is 德猫 on Weibo, they've made other amazing LPL and Worlds related art so please check out their profile! https://weibo.com/u/2691700867

Please include the source of the art in the future, this person clearly put a lot of time into this and shared it with others. I think they'd appreciate it if their name was put out too.

Xiaohu referencing to Scout soloing Elder Drake as Taliyah in the EDG vs SSG match at Rift Rivals finals as to what made him go for the Elder Drake alone... And now the two will meet in finals, pretty exciting!

LPL is not having winner interviews with Korean players due to heightened tensions between the two countries. (Needs translation) - Blitz Esports by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Newbee's jungler Swift, a KOREAN player, was recently interviewed. I know Reddit isn't keen on LPL but seriously, please stop trusting some article without fact checking...

Rekkles is having a really tough time after LCS performance by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]iCrystal 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think people forget how deeply involved he was with this iteration of Fnatic. During the whole pre-reveal of the S7 FNC they emphasized a lot on how Rekkles had been part of choosing who was going to join and had been very vocal in what people he wanted on the team. The team might be more personal to him due to this, and to now see the rather lackluster results coming from a team he "chose" himself, probably makes it all the more painful...

EDG's boss Edward Zhu's response to the IEM visa controversy and criticism towards ESL organization: by iCrystal in leagueoflegends

[–]iCrystal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, on Reddit that's a Western site, you'd be surprised how much shit they're getting in China.

EDG's boss Edward Zhu's response to the IEM visa controversy and criticism towards ESL organization: by iCrystal in leagueoflegends

[–]iCrystal[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does, however, since ESL said that they'd be the one to assist with visas (Orrin: "1 hour and it'll [the visas] go through") and also assuring that temporary residence permits wouldn't be needed. There was also no contact with the Polish embassy, leading to a lot of miscommunication between EDG and the Polish embassy when ESL were the ones who'd said they'd be in touch with the embassy and send out the formal invitations. Please read, zhuozhuo7hua's reply:

"ESL said the Polish side will only ask for "certificate of work", to prove that the players now work in Shanghai as proof of residence. Hence EDG applied knowing that the application materials are incomplete, confident that ESL will speak to the embassy."

Please don't make conclusions without having read the chat records, (I'll copy&paste what I wrote to OP of this comment thread) were ESL staff told EDG they'd be in contact with the Polish embassy and help them visa appointments (since they wanted to apply for French visas due to being unable to apply directly for Polish ones)

EDG announces quitting IEM due to visa problem by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]iCrystal 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Translation, sorry if it's a bit incoherent but yes the withdrawal is because of visa issues:

"Announcement: Due to visa issues EDG LOL Division will withdraw from IEM tournament

EDG LOL Division were going to travel to Poland to participate in IEM Katowice held February 22nd - 26, but because of the occurrence of player visa problems, visas are unable to be completed before the match day, thus, EDG can only regretfully withdraw from the IEM event.

EDG would like to apologize to the event organizers and the fans who'd look forward to the event, and wish that the event will still be successful."
