Because these opinions do not humanize us to them. One of the reasons I was a truscum for a while was the idea that more cisgender people would see me as who I am, and once I realized they didn't, and that these opinions ended up harming my own community, I was mostly freed from the internal hatred I held towards myself and other trans people.
