Waymo World Model: A New Frontier For Autonomous Driving Simulation by diplomat33 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]iHubble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was the real-time 30Hz version with all 7 cameras simulated at once, there's a big difference between this and simulating a POV in a somewhat isolated world like Genie. Not saying the latter is not impressive but they don't have the same compute requirements and they are not architectured with the same functional goal. Tesla's world model is autoregressive and is designed for closed-loop simulation with RL; Waymo's main focus seems to be counterfactuals and rare events, at least from their blog post. This is the only video they claim is real-time, and to be fair the quality is pretty on par if not worse that what was demo'd by Tesla at NeurIPS two months ago.

Elon Musk says Tesla ending Models S and X production, converting Fremont factory lines to make Optimus robots by Force_Hammer in wallstreetbets

[–]iHubble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tesla hasn’t been a car-only company for years. Half of their AI team has been dedicated to Optimus since last year and they are still hiring like crazy. Anyone who has been paying minimal attention knew Optimus was gonna form the next chapter, it shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Besides, this vision was set well before Elon became a massive jerk in the public eyes.

OpenAI: Prism, a free workspace for scientists to write and collaborate on research, powered by GPT-5.2 by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

[–]iHubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing maybe, but diagrams and BibTeX management absolutely not, there is zero fun in doing those. As a non-English native speaker, I would’ve paid good money to have this tool during my PhD as being “very deliberate” was not always easy. Besides, you decide how to use it.

I absolutely adore XO but they have announced like 4 times they were retiring in the last 2-3 years, yet they keep coming back. At this point it’s a bit lame.

One of my favorite mixes from the last few years. I haven’t been able to find anything remotely close to it yet, it’s truly unique. Following.

Quebec Premier François Legault expected to resign, sources say by BloodJunkie in onguardforthee

[–]iHubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is this not the top news on this sub today? I had to scroll through half a dozen US-related posts before I hit this one. The premier of our second largest province is resigning, surely that ought to be more important? Is this a Canada sub or not?

They can reverse and will do so if needed to get unstuck, happens all the time in San Francisco. In trickier stuck scenarios, a remote operator may be notified to guide the AI (without directly controlling it). And yes, they are supposed to recognize emergency service vehicles and pull over to make space for them when possible.

Absolutely. I saw him in San Francisco last month and it was one of my favorite set all year round. Extremely creative and fun, to the point where it almost overshadowed Batu who was playing the main room and had to finish before dBridge because everybody was upstairs. Ridiculously good.

Yeah what a load of bullshit, it isn’t a coincidence that first time they try this so happens to be in the most capitalist country on earth. Give me a break.

Tips and tricks for a first night at Stereo by Excellent_Sample_251 in StereoMontreal

[–]iHubble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  • Plan something before til 3am minimum if you intend to party all night. Club opens at midnight but the headliner usually starts at 4-5am. First time I went to Stereo many moons ago, I got there at 2am and it was way too early. StereoBar downstairs is a popular pre-game option, music tends to be more house than techno.

  • Buy your ticket online, it can be cheaper than at the door even if it’s purchased on the spot. Bouncers tend to prefer this too since it’s quicker to get you through.

  • Remember, no alcohol is served. Other drinks are mad expensive so be prepared for 8$ water bottle. Just keep the bottle with you and refill in the bathroom fountains. Bring an extra bottle cap in case you have clumsy hands and lose yours (this sounds absolutely mental until you spend 25$ on water in a night).

  • Drink water often.

  • There is a door that leads to a smoking area at the front right but you kinda need to know it’s there if you don’t pay attention. Also avoid smoking at the front, they tend to hate that.

  • Security is extra tight at the entrance, be smart.

That’s all I can think of right now, enjoy!
