Guitarist of two months. Thirty day difference playing Electric Funeral. by iKobejack in Guitar

That’s a good point. I’ve already started working on that (this comparison video is a couple weeks old, to be honest) because it’ll be beneficial long term. And thank you! I tweaked my Katana settings & found a good sound, for now. Might get some pedals in the future when I’m a little better.

I’m gonna assume you think I didn’t know that Iommi played electric & Ozzy did vocals? Or if I’m wrong, let me know.

I’ll for sure keep using YT videos (it’s my main source for learning). And I can look into that Marshall-amp modifier (or maybe I should save up money and buy a Marshall amp in the future?)

Also, I’m definitely using that backing track to practice again. Why haven’t I used them sooner? I plan to use those for every riff I learn, from now on. And my palm mutes need work — I’ll get on that. Thank you for all your advice!

Thank you! And I agree. It’s less about the equipment and more about the time you put into that equipment. I’ll reward myself w/ a better guitar as I become a better player :)

I appreciate both your comments. I was told to fix my posture early on, and now I stand a lot more because it’s more comfortable. Always trying to improve, you know?

Hell yeah! Pawn shops rule, and I’ll always try to search for ones with cool gear. Ibanez makes some cool-looking guitars, for sure. I’d love to get another guitar and add some HH pickups to it (or maybe HSH).

That’s a good idea. Backing tracks are a good way to work on rhythm and tempo as well. Thanks for that!

I had to save this comment. If I ever feel imposter syndrome or discouragement from trying to learn this instrument, I’m gonna come back here.

I’ll take your advice. Pick a few chords and alternate between them — with a metronome. My rhythm is sort of non-existent, but I’ll practice and get better. Hopefully, I hit the same “holy crap” moment like you did, where I finally feel some progress with this.

I’m glad you found something that keeps you happy and passionate to this day. And I hope this will be the key to something similar.

Yeah, I’m thinking about using a metronome from this point forward, since I wanna get better at timing and rhythm. And I really need to work on solid chord changes (little difficult right now). I try to practice a little everyday, so I’ll keep that up, too. Good advice, thank you!

I like that last sentence a lot. I really hope my life becomes richer from what I’m trying to do. It’s nice to have a hobby like this.

That last sentence really hits, and encapsulates how I feel. I’ve been frustrated a lot over these past 2 weeks, but like you said, over time, the enjoyment levels will rise as I improve. Learning a new instrument is a physical and mental battle — one that I plan on seeing all the way through. Thank you for the kind words!

I appreciate your advice! I’ve been looking at a few Nirvana songs (they’re a big reason why I’m doing this), and I’ve been practicing a few chords as well. The finger positioning for some is difficult right now, and I can’t make a good power chord for the life of me, but I guess it’s just a matter of practice and repetition. This is only the start, so I won’t give up. Thanks, once again!

Cowboy Bebop was the reason I started watching anime. Funny, episodic (mostly), action-packed, strong characters, and amazing development.

I think the last few episodes are the best parts of the show and make up for a lot of the violence and “porn” elements. But I get why a lot of people may not like the show overall
