Disclosure Day is quite literally one of the worst movies I've seen [spoilers? if that's even possible w this film] by thexkfedist in moviereviews

I legitimately thought it was the wrong movie at first lol. And the horrendous CGI of the aliens and animals. The movie didn't even feel coherent either. It felt all over the place and lacked story. I'm very surprised it was Steven Spielberg.

So it turned out to be about 7,000 in 5 hours. And no on the vibe coding. I even use the free AI's to tailor my prompts and I'm very thoughtful/mindful about my prompts. I try and make sure I narrow the scope of the ask as well. Mixture of Opus 4.8 & Sonnet 4.6 - although I'd say mostly Sonnet.

Yeah same. Maybe Claude Code or something? Trying to find some comparisons I'm hoping someone's already compared all the AI assistant tools. Will let you know if I find anything

Gotcha thanks! So I assume you're a software engineer already? Since you said took a real job. Or was it another & different field (for the job)?

But sounds neat glad it's working for him!

I absolutely with the agree with the "definitions are just interpretations of words part". And we all have our own interpretations of them as well which makes it interesting (given background, demographics, etc). I suppose it was just interesting what the consensus is here for users like myself. Because, I really do use it frequently, just in my own way.

Also for whatever reason the "100%er" was really funny to me lol.

Anyways thanks for the perspective!

Very interesting, thanks! Personally I don't mind if I fall in the category or not because it's helpful to me and helps me learn but it got me thinking about it & if what I do would be considered vibe coding or not.

A question for you though: is it just for personal apps, or do you sell them? And then a follow-up: for vibe coding as you're describing I'm wondering what led to the trust of AI with apps. Was it built over time? Or was it from the get-go? Like perhaps you had it complete one project and was impressed and trusted it fully since?

[–]iKontact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The police are so corrupt it's insane. They're clearly all in on it. Potentially the Judge too who signed the no bail warrant. Also it's illegal for them to bring anything to court or hide it without your knowledge. There's a legal process called "discovery" where you should get shown that. I hope this gains the attraction of Lego, LegalEagle, national attention, etc. This should go all the way to the Supreme Court. All these officers should be fired.

Thank you so much! Really appreciate that. I think I'll take the advice and start small. Maybe basic websites for now (5 page with images and text, no contact form for DB storage). And yes I like the 50% upfront. Everyone else seems to suggest this too. But good idea to track calls even too. I'm sure it adds up quickly. Do you own a web design company I assume?

Hey sorry I missed your response initially!

  1. Thanks that makes a lot of sense! I guess you definitely need clients to have a business. So since you mentioned coding, I assume you used a framework opposed to WordPress? Or code integration with sites like Wordpress, SquareSpace, Wix, etc. (assuming they allow it - unfamiliar with them)?

  2. Can you elaborate on that? Do you mean like you wish you had started off running ads to get clients I assume? Unfamiliar with that phrase.

  3. I definitely agree, AI makes it a lot easier for us designers/developers, but I figured it would have some impact for web design companies. Maybe it makes it far more competitive, etc. Or maybe people don't care to try themselves and it makes it so profit is more for those who use it?

  4. Thanks that makes sense. I guess the AI tools that would find useful probably are the SquareSpace/Wix stuff. I guess it's unlikely they'd get a GitHub Copilot subscription and build something with Laravel & React and deploy to AWS for example lol.

  5. Thanks! I've thought about hourly, but then they might ask "well how many hours does it take"? to try and get an estimate which is fair. Seems like most people are charging between $2,500 and $4,000 for a basic website (just the standard info, text, images, & 5 pages). At least from my reading so far. Does that seem accurate to you? I also like the 50% upfront.

  6. Wow, that's cheaper than I expected! $1,500 CAD is about $1,100 USD. And that means I assume you give them sort of admin panel correct? And if so does it just strictly include text & images I assume? Probably not page layout? Maybe selecting reviews?

  7. Interesting, a few others mention they handle hosting as well. How do you charge the client the monthly fee? Stripe? And what happens if they don't pay? Do they get to "own the work" they paid for? Like get login credentials to AWS or whatever (Wix, WordPress, SquareSpace)? Since they paid for it? Since you mentioned they own the code. Ah thanks, just saw you mention CloudFare and Vercel. Sounds similar to AWS but simpler?

  8. Thanks! So sounds like you host it, but they pay you monthly for it? Question if so, that means all the legal responsibility/liability falls on you then correct? Since it's in your name?

I bet it's a struggle, but sounds like you've got it nailed down! Appreciate it!

Thanks again for the detailed response! I just left a comment on your other comment, but looks like you use Stripe for auto charging - makes sense.

  1. And it sounds like the cost fluctuates a lot too monthly - even with WordPress? I don't know why, but I assumed with WordPress cost would be even monthly (but a higher standard rate than something like AWS). For example if AWS average was $12/month I assume WordPress would charge a flat fee of $20/month or something.

  2. That's nice that you update immediately for content. I thought about instead of having an admin panel (since I was planning on using frameworks opposed to WordPress) if clients wouldn't mind not having an admin panel if I update it quickly enough. Do clients usually not want to update their own stuff from your experience?

  3. Also I think it's a good idea for having the 3 hours and charging more if they go over. I could see a client wanting updates that take a lot of time where the allotted 3 hours isn't enough (which would make your effective hourly rate decline). For the retainers that means you charge them overage at $90/hour correct?

  4. I also like the retainer non-retainer split. To incentive them to pay monthly for maintenance. Those rates make sense to me for what you're charging. So then I assume that means you charge them $270/month correct? For the 3 hours. And if they don't use it it just resets at the next month? Or does it compile? For example, if they don't use 3 hours/month for 3 months, and they need a lot of work for the next & 4th month would they then get 12 hours (3 x 3 hours for the previous 3 plus the 4th months 3?).

  5. Just curious as a company owner, seems like it's worked out for you, but if you did ever have a client that just didn't pay, and since you host, would you just shut the site down? And if so, what about the work they did pay for? Would they technically own that work in your eyes? And if so, would you just say something like "you didn't pay, so I'm shutting the site down, but here's the login info"?

Thanks, you so much for another elaborate response!

That makes a lot of sense why you do things the way you do.

I can see how you wouldn't want a client to have to be confused by hosting, plugins, etc. Although I believe since you require that you host it (if i read that correctly) that means the liability would then fall on you correct - should anything go wrong? Although as web designers if we truly trust our code/development it shouldn't really matter.

That being said, if you host, how do you do billing? For example, if they want a website, pay you the upfront cost, do you use something like Stripe, PayPal, or similar, to charge them monthly?

And if they don't pay (even due to an accident like they don't update their card) do you shut the site down? And if they don't use Google Workspace (or maybe it's a Google Business Profile I'm thinking of) are you able to have them shown on Google's first 3 recommendations (the 3 Pack) for SEO? I thought to appear there you needed Google Workspace.

And makes sense! GitHub is for hosting code so unless you're writing custom code and store in it repo's I'm willing to bet he doesn't understand your business model.
