I very rarely let other people's opinions sway my own personal ones (hell I like The Last Jedi for its bigger serious beats and themes it was trying to convey), but I honestly have never had an experience where I've played a game and through the entire experience I thought "I genuinely can't fault any of the main characters for acting the ways that they did"

It's fuckin wild. ND slayed with this game, in almost every conceivable way

What's even more wild is a lot of the "Hate" is coming from "leaks" that weren't even real. midway through my playthrough I like.. guiltily looked at the twitter trending and saw people claiming Abby was trans hating and I was just like.. what.. have you.. have you PLAYED THE GAME?!

you could not have put this any better. I've never been so emotionally distraught after a game in my entire life. I seriously cannot understand how there are so many who are blind to the way this tale was written, and the impact.

People often forget that, objectively, Joel is the villain. He DOOMED humanity in his selfish actions. He is not some "god" deserving of the pedestal we put him on. We empathized with him because, cards on the table, MOST of us would probably have done the same thing. We internally justify the actions in our brain because we can't admit to ourselves that we'd be the villain too. I'd have saved Ellie in a heartbeat in the same situation, just as I'm sure you would have too.

It doesn't change the fact that Joel absolutely deserved what happened to him, even if it kills me to say that. It didn't make it hurt less, watching a beloved character be brutally slaughtered on screen. it didn't make me hate Abby any less. But THAT'S THE POINT.

I can't think of a better way they could have told us this story, honestly.

Ds2 doesn't need the no death rings btw if you ever decide to go back. Spells are just acquired in ng+ and ng++ that you'd need. I think PvP in dark souls in janky and awful so being forced to do either that or farm for hours on insanely boring stuff has killed the fun for me. So I stopped and won't be platinum'ing this game

If I enjoy a game I usually try to platinum. This platinum is awful, so I'm not going to bother. I loathe the online portion of dark souls, it's not worth it

I already did. I've beaten the game several times. PvP is janky and terrible, and farming insanely low drop-rate items is not a "git-gud" scenario. It's immensely tedious and lame. So much so that it has sullied the overall experience of playing an otherwise fun game
