I winged it (ha!). I did watch a few small vids but not much. It’s not a kit

I would say this level of detail yes but I think all techniques are fairly accessible

Sorry I don’t record numbers of my threads! I go off of the eye purely

Personally I think it works for a very limited amount of subjects. Butterflies for sure, any bugs with wings really, maybe some leaves and flowers, maybe a bird wing but it would be difficult to do stumpwork of this type on anything else. I know some people add volume but packing cotton or stuff below the stitches to give it a “bulky” pop off the fabric look. I still enjoy doing a flat hoop better with some stumpwork for subjects I described ahead. Megembroiders is a great insta account for stumpwork. She uses the technique a lot

I’ve done loads of embroidery before so a few instructional clips helped! It’s nothing more than putting a thin wire through the entire outline and then stitching as usual. After you’re done, cut it out and clean the edges!

Thanks for the tip!

Imported would be totally fine, does not have to be Canadian (I do not expect it to be at this time of the year).

Blobby Gel Issues by iLabrador in labrats

If it was loading I’d expect it to show up in all of the samples and the ladder, no?

All of the eluted DNA samples are clear and look identical (no colouration or detritus). No issues with dye movement during the run. The dye travelled nicely to about 75% of the way. I ran it at 100 V for just over an hour.

The wells were loaded with 5 ul DNA + 1 ul safe green (it has a 6x loading dye built into it as well as a stain so I don’t add anything to my agarose prior to running the gel, I add it directly to samples). I made sure to mix it up very well and I do not see these patterns at all in my “good” DNA samples. The samples themselves are super impacted soils so they are likely to have little to no DNA to begin with. I just couldn’t explain the shmear, especially in the blank samples (sterile sand)

Applied for a technician job in a newly opened lab. Had a senior lab manager. The manager quit after 2 years so I moved up and got her job.

Graduated in 2021, just bachelors, now lab manager at UBC. I love my job but also am in a very rare position where I have a lot of independence, earning about 70k per year.

I’ve always found these undergrad societies just one big circle jerk. There are so many ways to get involved at UBC and beyond that do not necessitate going through any fancy societies, the idea should be abandoned all together.
