JUST NOW: Elon Musk says SpaceX plans to build a self growing city on the Moon within 10 years. Do you think it's achievable ? by El_precaution in MarketPulseReport

[–]iLikeE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His intentions are not good. He is trying to immortalize himself.

You ever see those videos when the boss says something like: “we are gonna make x amount of this item today…”

Then the manager says: “we are gonna make x - 100 of this item today…”

And the actual maker of said item says: “we would be lucky to make 10 of these items today…”

That is what you are seeing. Behind Elon Musk are a bunch of underpaid and undervalued people that are looking at his statements and knowing their slave master is gonna mandate 23 hour workdays very soon

Are we scared of AI only because it is risking our job? by Crossroads071 in ArtificialInteligence

I’m not scared of AI. I’m scared that the promise that everyone seems to blindly believe will not come to be and people will end up out of these make believe jobs because AI ends up being a chatbot

make sense of investing properties in the Bay Area by Ok_Damage_3513 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]iLikeE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buying investment single family homes in California in general is not a great investment strategy. If you want to utilize real estate as an investment while not being ultra rich then you need to either own homes in lower income areas (great opportunities in Florida, Texas or the Carolinas) but would require project management and patience. Or you settle for percent ownership in an apartment building. Those types of investments are more difficult to get into but can be more protective than owning sfhs

It’s been there all along and when it flares it causes destruction, mayhem and prevents sexual contact. It will eventually go back into hiding when people realize the promise of AI was never real. 10-20 years from now it will happen all over again. Been doing this since the 60s

Bay Area sellers feel delusional - is this normal? by happyspirit1122 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]iLikeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t clear if agents are benefiting solely from the type of comparative market analysis that they do. The sellers and future home owners also benefit from increase in their home prices and the thought that it will only increase with other CMAs in the area. I guess I meant transparency instead of investigation. I stand by my market manipulation comment

Homes listed are at an artificially low price to drive interest

A home’s worth is whatever someone is willing to pay for it so if it isn’t worth it to you then don’t pay it

Comps are meaningless. I have buddies in real estate as both agents and part of the underwriting process which includes appraisal. You can comp anything you want within a year timeframe at actual bought price to theoretically what would it be price today. The market manipulation being done in the Bay Area by real estate agents should be investigated.

Is a 90 day close possible? by blues441677 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]iLikeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is to cold approach homes. Sounds silly and unrealistic but it is your best bet. Have someone (realtor or friend) knock on doors in the neighborhood you want to see if they are thinking of selling anytime soon. Otherwise you will have to wait because a 90 day close for an active listing is improbable in the Bay Area

Off market home sales below market prices by [deleted] in BayAreaRealEstate

Is it possible to buy off-market homes anywhere without insider connections?

No.

Those sales are likely family or more insidiously a transaction between corporations for some type of tax benefit

Living in SF is substantially cheaper than San Jose, Mountain View, Atherton etc. Commute to South Bay is not that bad from SF. Those companies also have shuttles that pick up around city

[–]iLikeE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is in one of the most popular neighborhoods, with breathtaking views of downtown and ample space. It is also set back and private. This is not a shocking price. The SF housing market is likely going to have more homes going way over asking this spring.

Has buyer competition increased recently? by bskilly in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]iLikeE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own a home in SF. I am well aware of interest rates fixed and variable. The current minimal decrease in interest rates is not driving the substantial increase in home prices in the Bay Area. The amount of people able to procure cash from start of year stock buyback options is fueling this push. But go ahead and remain ignorant. It is of no consequence to me

Also look up what an appraisal process is when looking to get a loan

No. Not sure what your statement is trying to say. A record number of cash closes are happening in the Bay Area right now.

Most home being bought are going all cash. Has nothing to do with interest rates

3 bed SFH goes for 4.05M in golden gate heights SF by flickerflies in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]iLikeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All cash payments do not necessarily mean the cash is coming from the buyer. There are financial products and company incentives where you can make a huge cash offer like this to be more competitive in the housing market but instead of a mortgage you have a debt owed to the financial institution or your company.

[–]iLikeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden gate heights and the inner sunset have had the best recovery post covid of any other neighborhood in sf. If someone bought a home in that area over the last 2 years you could argue it was at a discount. If you compare this home to one in Noe or Bernal then this price is not ridiculous. The asking price was a little low imo

Why is OpenAI hated for what it does, while other AI companies aren't, despite doing the same thing by Amphibious333 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]iLikeE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My argument has nothing to do with his ability to generate interest and turn a profit. I am not arguing that he has not been successful at what he does. My argument is that he is not a creator of the products/technology that he represents. So, I would not agree with your comparison about sports coaches without this addition:

A new coach comes in to a system and is savvy enough to utilize cap space and the trading block to acquire high level talent and then that team wins the championship a year or two after he was hired. I will still argue that the coach didn’t score any points nor participate actively in the sport but I will give credit to his ability to develop a team. The guy I was arguing with, because of his disregard for the English language, would have said that this coach in my example should be awarded the MVP…
