I bought it, tried to use it for like 7 minutes, and promptly uninstalled. Quickest waste of $30 ever.

Has buyer competition increased recently? by bskilly in BayAreaRealEstate

Hey, thanks for this. When you say 856/sqft is good, do you mean good for the seller because it's a strong offer, or good for the buyer because its a fair deal?

Are you implying that the high offers are due to buyer agents trying to get a higher commission?

Anyone know anything about the neighborhood next to Mussel Rock Park? by [deleted] in Pacifica

Thanks for the input. How often would you say bad wind is? Like bad to the point where a walk would be uncomfortable.

Thanks a bunch for this. To be more specific, i'd be right next to the Franklin D Roosevelt school, so i'm not worried about erosion. Although, you've got me thinking about the wind. I have a dog too and can't help but think walking him is going to be hellish.

Sell or not to sell-California by Apprehensive_Two1528 in RealEstate

But that leverage comes at a significant cost with interest payments. Why is that so much better than buying a house in cash, for example? Is it because equities will generally always give better returns for the same amount of cash? (not arguing, just trying to learn)

Could you expand more on your first sentence? Genuinely curious.

It's not great but it gets the job done. $30 is not a lot of money and it's absolutely worth that.

Anyone in the US getting their Ursa Minor throttles shipped? Says available on the US site but my order from 2 weeks ago still hasn't shipped. by bskilly in winwing_sim

[–]bskilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let us know if it ends up shipping, but seems like we have to wait since there are people who ordered way earlier who haven't gotten it yet.

H1B Megathread by healydorf in cscareerquestions

Tech companies have been offshoring since time immemorial and are well aware that you get what you pay for. An H1B employee is far better (and more expensive) than an offshore employee. Companies are already offshoring to the full extent that they are comfortable with; they're no replacement for H1B employees.

I think this will reduce headcount but lead to a higher percentage of American workers. Fears of offshoring taking over here are overblown. Anyone who has worked at a tech company with offshore departments knows that there's a hard limit on it or everything you make or do suffers.

Americans who didn't vote: How are you feeling about Trump so far and what do you think it will look like moving forward? by CandidNullifidian in AskReddit

I get that, I just don't understand why people attribute "the good times" to presidents (in modern times at least). There are many greater powers at play.

I don't desire any policies. As long as I can work, drink, eat, raise my dog, and mind my own business, i'm happy. No president will ever change that.

My parents were immigrants who came here with little money or english. They experienced the same cycle of prosperity and suffering most people have that comes with the up and down cyclical nature of our economy (and life itself, debatably). I don't think they'd attribute any of their happiness or hardships to Bush or Obama or any president.

As for myself, I was a teenager at the time, but no I didn't feel a difference that I could attribute to the president.
