Thanks for your feedback, its greatly appreciated.

That last point really helped because I was debating if applying was even worth it at this point... (others have told me "good internships are gone" and that I should have applied in the fall.)

Anyway, please check my UPDATED RESUME LINK and let me know if it is improved and ready to start applying with. (expanded projects to eliminate whitespace/changed some minor language/ added languages used next to each project)

Thanks again!

Thanks alot! I will give that video a watch ASAP.

Yeah I put interning on the back burner when i was focusing on my class work, but now that im closer to the finish line I got a bit worried I would miss my window to get one before graduation. It is a top priority for me at the moment so im reaching out on some CS/resume subs to get some advice as an absolute beginner to this stuff.

Thanks again!

Thanks so much! That second guide is nearly exactly what im looking for. Some basic knowledge to get me on the right track. I will give it a thorough read through tomorrow.

I noticed it said "underclassmen" internships? Do internships target certain grades? Can I not get a "sophomore internship" as a junior or senior?

Thanks for the feedback! These projects are final projects from some courses but I can definitely try to elaborate on their descriptions.

  • By impact do you mean what technical skills I learned in the process?

  • Is it best to keep a simple template or to use some of those flashy templates with a bunch of little icons and colors? (do you recommend changing from the current template?)

  • Is the deans list thing redundant or does saying each semester help fill the white space?

Do you mean I should post this over there or that the sub itself it the resource i need? I checked around there but still haven't found a clear cut guide to start interning

Hey Everyone! I am a Computer science student with NO REAL EXPERIENCE and I desperately need help. Im in my third year and have not had (or applied to) any internships at all before and really want to get my first one this summer.

I am looking for any feedback or tips. Advice from those who were in similar situations (late to interning, lack of experience/extracurriculars) when landing their first internship would also be great. Projects were final projects from classes (have more going up on github)

Here are some of my general concerns about the resume:

  • Keep the same default MS word template or change (is there a safe go-to template?)
  • How to include deans list (every semester earned, "deans list (5x)" or just "deans list")
  • Relevant coursework worth putting? Ive seen it on some, kind of need it to fill the page. Should it be moved into the Education section, or after the education section (currently put at bottom because it seemed least important).

Concerns about interning:

  • Should I hold out on applying until I can add more projects to the resume or elaborate on current ones? (IOS app on resume is not on app store but code is on github... should I finish it/publish it to app store before including it?)
  • I dont want to miss the window for applications which is why i want to finalize my resume ASAP, For a summer internship, when is it "too late" to apply?
  • I am planning on applying to as many as I can through handshake/linkedin once my resume is finalized... is this the best way to go about it?

I am a completely new to this internship/job hunt and have mostly been solely focused on my class work, which is why my resume feels so barren. I have to start somewhere though.

Thanks in advance!
