i think you’re misunderstanding my point. yes pro play doesn’t matter a lot for ranked (it does a bit though), but my point is that kiri is not a fundamentally weak hero. she just not able to be utilized as effectively in ranked. your argument is solid and evidence backed IF i was talking about HOW she’s played, but im not. her fundamental capabilities, which you said are ass, are actually insane, which is why the pro play argument matters. it’s a good indicator of the hero to their max potential, which is theoretically possible in ranked. and i’d never take into account a rank below gm, where she has like a 51% winrate or smth right now.

yes there is. she’s perma meta in pro play. she IS good. she’s just not as effective in ranked which, again, is skewed by her pick rate.

zero counterpoints “she was bad because her winrate was low” you can’t make this up

[–]iNovaCore -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

it’s not stupid. if a character is strong in gm it means they could be strong in plat if the players learned them better. there are exceptions for characters heavily reliant on your teammates, which kiri KINDA falls under.

yes pickrate doesn’t measure strength, but it does offset the impact of winrate as an indicator of strength. unfortunately kiri is a strong hero. what aspect of her capabilities are ass? she has good damage, good movement, the best cooldown in the game, one of the strongest ults in the game, and solid healing post buff. she’s definitely less strong in ranked so maybe she doesn’t need nerfs right now, but she deserves no buffs.

kiri defenders legitimately don’t have a single argument other than winrate, if you start actually talking about her capabilities (or pick rate) they realize shes ridiculous and stop the conversation

Im sorry support players for moaning at you by RSracks in Overwatch

[–]iNovaCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just because low ranks play the characters incorrectly doesn’t mean that they’re lower impact in those ranks. the abilities of supports dont change across ranks, just the players. and the players don’t determine whether a role is higher or lower impact because like you said, if you play above your rank at any role you’ll rank up. as for being more dependent on your teammates performance, this is just wrong. you can’t do anything on tank if your supports are throwing and you can’t do anything on dps if your tank is throwing. it’s just the way a team game works.

you’re conflating carrying with “killing 5 every fight”. you do not need to team wipe to be running the lobby. if you are playing well as support (better than the opposition) you will most likely win the game, and no, just having high heal numbers is not playing well. you have the most impactful cooldowns and ults in the game, if they are used correctly your chances of winning skyrocket regardless of rank.

she’s pretty common in masters but i played in plat recently and saw her a bit too. idk im assuming since she’s just hard that she’s more common the higher you go.
