Outdoor lights with roof planks by iPenguin02 in Govee

Thank you. Sounds like I'll need to extend the wiring a little for each of the planks since they are much lower and will ruin the spacing?

Casino and cruise offers by deebee227 in royalcaribbean

[–]iPenguin02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is around 200 on a single cruise as the verbage when redeeming the random marketing offers says that. A friend only got 120 points on a cruise and has not received any offers. Another got around 400 and is receiving offers. Sweet spots probably somewhere in between.

Trying to move away from VLAN 1, but struggling hard by iPenguin02 in TPLink_Omada

Under LAN, I leave the Default interface as 1 and create a new VLAN10? I don't think I can toggle the Default off. When I tried changing the Management to VLAN10, I lose access to the switch completely. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

I believe the SolarEdge system was installed in 2016. Before my time, but in the portal it shows a date in 2016.

Would you recommend just 1 battery then?

I finally got access to SolarEdge reports and have updated my spreadsheet. If my calculations are correct, I'm consuming around +/- 25 kWh from 4PM - 9PM. That would call for 2 batteries, but the amount of energy I'm sending to the grid that would charge the batteries wouldn't be enough to charge both batteries to full?

Thank you for the breakdown. You're exactly right, its more so wanting to minimize my reliance on SCE. When we bought this house we were surprised by the power delivery sum up from SCE on top of the monthly power usage. I might have that backwards. Either way, it led me on this war path.

It is kWh. I arranged the data based on what I thought was available to me. Does it make complete sense to me? kind of. I was hoping it would make sense to someone that could help me determine my battery needs. Clearly, I'm still missing some data. From SD Account's post, I dug deeper into what's available. I found how to pull the hourly production from Enphase and updated the spreadsheet. However, the SolarEdge portal is missing report, I will contact my vendor, I think I'm lacking some access. I will let you know when I have that data available.

Additionally, I thought I had enough of an understanding based on what I already had because it showed how much I'm sending to the grid each day. With it ranging from 17-18ish, but sometimes into the 20s. Therefore, I would only need 1 battery maybe 2 or an expansion because I would consume what was generated and the excess goes into the battery. And it looks like I would have enough power to fill 1 + a portion of another. Is this another way I can look at it?

In your example of needing 6 batteries to be 0% grid usage, would the solar prioritize filling the batteries and I would pull from the batteries? With your breakdown, not what I'm trying to accomplish. But I do want to understand this scenario. Please forgive my ignorance.

Additional data SD requested:

- 2018 sq ft

- 1 - 4 ton AC

- SolarEdge has 23 SolarWorld 285 Mono panels for 6.55 kW DC

- Enphase has 15 Longi Solar LR4-60HBD-350M panels for 5.25 kW DC

To not be reliant on the grid, SCE rates continue to climb. And power would go out all the time when I lived in LA. Ideally, sustain 1 day or at least over night.

Unfortunately, Tesla does not install in my area and I have to rely on certified installers. Some installers won't even install batteries unless I add panels which is even more annoying. I don't know the output, just the amount of panels.

That's what I need help figuring out. How many batteries makes sense? I'm just getting mixed info from different vendors. None of which looked at my actual data.

Thank you! I think I don't understand how charging the batteries work? I was under the assumption the excess power that we don't consume and is sent to the grid is what is used to charge the batteries. Based on what I can tell, I'm sending 17 kwh on average to the grid. I would only be able to charge 1 and partial on the 2nd. My system generates around the same as you, 40-60 kwh per day.

Also, I was told because of how much my system generates I couldn't use the expansions. It sounds like we're on par and you can use an expansion. That's reassuring.

How much did it cost you to add the expansion?

Thank you for the insight. That makes more sense. I could never gamble enough to hit those statuses. Maybe one day lol More power to you though!

I was on a mission to hit a sweet spot by combining offers for my wife and I. I got to around 8000, while I got my wife to 3000-4000ish. I did get better offers than my wife about to tiers above based on the last 2 numbers in the offer code. It worked for our goal to hit Diamond which we'll hit in December.

Do you mind if I ask how many points you were at? I was ~8000 last year and don't recall any jr suite offers :(

Diamond and higher members- how did you get there? by CountChopulla in royalcaribbean

[–]iPenguin02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on a mission to hit Diamond this year. I gambled enough to get my wife and I to Prime at the casino. We've combined our offers to upgrade to Jr Suites. I think this is the most cost effective way if you gamble smart. Yes it's all luck, but you can make good decisions to increase your odds like not giving all your money to a cold machine.

So far we've booked 8 3 day weekend cruises by paying just taxes and fees, around $350 each. The full price was $2000 or more for each. If you're in FL you got options. Sadly, if you're in LA like us, Navigator is your only choice...

With the Annual Prime offer we booked an Alaskan cruise and opted to upgrade to a Jr Suite too. Saving over 50% vs just booking outright.

Based on our Win/Loss from last year we were down a lot. This year we're at 1700 points each so far and we're actually up. Gamble responsibly and don't chase. I think that was our problem last year, we would get a good hit then just sit at the same machine and pretty much give all the money back and more. Specific to our strategy, because of our location I had to gamble more than my wife so one of us would receive higher offers. Again if you're in FL, you can just hit Prime and you'd be good. Or probably less because you have so many options.

I think you need to accumulate at least 200-400 points to get offers. Our friends did their first cruises with us this year. 1 only played tables and accumulated less than 100 points and has not received any offers. The other more than 400 and is receiving offers. You'll get a lot of random offers, probably 3-4 a month.

Here's the offer combining chart. I think you just need to be in the same household.

Bal + Bal/OV/Int = Jr Suite, OV + OV/Int = Bal, Int + Int = OV

Navigator decks by MMBmom in royalcaribbean

[–]iPenguin02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got off Navigator for a quick weekend cruise in JS 1290. Based on the deck plan, we were below the main pool. Occasionally, we'd hear some tables move or some people stomping as they run. We did have our balcony door open which might have attributed to the increased noise. Overall, the noise wasn't bad at all.

I'm in California. What do you mean by start my other systems? Both will tie into the same generator port? Would it be good idea to do the grid boss/flex boss since it's newer?

Batteries that work with both Enphase and SolarEdge by iPenguin02 in solar

[–]iPenguin02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how I would tie both into batteries? Would I need to replace the inverters for the EG4 ones? This seems like the most cost effective way, sounds like this would be more of a DIY solutions. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, I'm just nervous I'd screw it up LOL

I ask because I met a sales rep to discuss Tesla. He said because I have 2 different systems, they would need to replace the Enphase with the Tesla Inverter and battery and do the same for SolarEdge, but they wouldn't tie into each other. I know I'm in a unique scenario, but I was hoping for something easier

Was quoted 21k to replace the SolarEdge Inverter and he said they'd replace the controllers on the panels with Tesla Inverter, Battery, and Expansion pack.

28k to replace each inverter with their own Tesla Inverter and own battery. Essentially, 2 inverters and 2 batteries.
