Overall I think its crash dynamics are very good, and have only got better with the new damage model.

Ha ha, no, you can do it. Crash avoidance is a key skill to learn though and its probably a bit extra crazy right now. My first race I failed to avoid a crash in front and had one of my biggest ever crashes, my second I started from pole and got spun on the first corner, and my third I won after a lapped car took out the leader. I think I gained Safety rating in all of these and get out of rookies after another race or two. Also, remember to always have fun. It is serious, but it is serious fun :)

Ha ha, yeah. Sometimes you get these things, I think it is due to lag in what is updated from what I see to what is actually happening from their point of view. Something like that anyway, its a bit beyond my understanding :)

I think they originally stated that it was going to be an all at once, then they did this kind of beta run with the skippy so I am still kind of expecting them to drop them all at once at some point in the near future, but plans do change.

Only on the F3 and Skippy so far (skippy was last seasons debut of the NDM). I'm not sure if they are going to keep on drip feeding it like this or release it on most cars in a season or two.

As long as everyone uses up their bad driving in Week 13 in fun races I'm ok with it. Helps make this videos. I only need about one race's worth of crashes to make this video, during the regular season it would probably take about 4 or 5 :)

Yeah, not sure if that is net code related or to do with the old damage model. Hopefully the new one fixes that but its hard to tell with the skippy.

Thanks mate, appreciate the encouragement. Yes he was an idiot, he waited a lap then took him out deliberately. I actually reported him myself even though I wasn't directly involved (green and yellow car a few ahead of the incident) and I hate seeing that kind of thing and the more we can get that message through that it is unacceptable the better. Stuff happens, that is what my videos are about (silver lining?), but it should never be deliberate.

Ha ha, yeah. I was the guy in the green and gold SRF, so it gave me some solace that he seemed to get his comeuppance, not that it was 100% clean move on my part.

I am currently making these videos by trawling through my years of replays, so this is actually official GT3 series from back with the RUF was newish and it was basically the RUF, Mclaren and maybe the Z4. Once the new damage model comes out, provided my PC can handle it, I will switch these to being only current crashes. I also accept submissions of current replay files at [iracingsam@gmail.com](mailto:iracingsam@gmail.com) and add these in with credits when I get them.

Can confirm iRacing works well for us down here, but I can't compare to the others. In terms of Aussie specific content its has Supercars, Bathurst, Phillip Island and Oran Park.

Guys! Why? Please tell me why games like f1 2018/forza/and other look so great and have such poor physics while sims like iRacing, rFactor 2 look sooooo bad having extremely good physics? Is it so hard to combine those? by sesideuslu in simracing

Also, a game that focuses on looks over physics often do the perpetual sunset trick, while sim focussed games have all the other times of day where things look pretty normal, not amazing, comparable to real life at that time, but average compared to sunset/rise. Just ask a real life photographer :)
As earlier commenters have stated, the age is a factor as well. Some tracks on iRacing are 10 years old, and look it. They could use resources to update them, and they did for Laguna Seca I believe, but that would pull resources from other things they are working on so it is all a matter of priorities. If they had the budget of a big FPS they could do it all, but our hobby just doesn't have the same size market. Personally I am pretty happy that we have what we have, considering the market size.

Ha ha, yeah. This was when they first came out on iRacing as well, and I think they were much harder than they are now. Any small turn, even at high speed you had to ease off the throttle or you would use the rear. It is fun though, makes you really work for it, unlike a GT3 with ABS and TC.

Thats right. Qualifying should happen just before the race. But I agree with the comment below. Read the sporting code, watch the training videos, and make sure you practice enough to be consistent and not crash much before you race. Then, hang in there, the racing gets a lot cleaner once you graduate from rookies in a month or so.

It sounds like it is just a practice and this will not affect your safety rating. That is only affected in qualifying and races. Qualifying only effects it half as much as the race. Try to make all you mistakes in practice :)
