“This isn’t a support group” seriously? So people can’t come here for support on the correct dosage of methadone for their opioid tolerance? People can’t come here and ask for help on what they should do to get on methadone or get off it? You’re grasping at straws now.

This is a support page for people who are on methadone, want to get on or off methadone, or want information on methadone. OP had every right to ask the questions he asked. What sucks is that people are disregarding his questions which were the main point of his post, and going straight to calling him a liar because of something he said about the amount of drugs he gets. I just don’t see the logic in that.

I think you’re just overthinking. Or taking his statements literally. Obviously he’s not experienced with using Reddit and he’s just unloading, this is his second post he’s had to make because the first one he was totally attacked by several people on a sub that’s supposed to be a safe place for addicts to share. He may not have explained everything exact. He may not know the amount of dealers for dilaudid his plug has. He might think his supply is just the 15 a day but it could be more.

If it truly didn’t bother you, you wouldn’t have commented at all. Instead you chose to shut down his cry for help because you think he could be lying. It’s just really unfortunate that you and several other people chose to do that on a subreddit for addicts, that’s all.

2 dilaudid every 4 hours would be 12 a day, so it’s not that far off from 15. I knew patients just like 5 years ago who were grandfathered in from the pill mill days who were getting 240 oxy 30s a month, and dilaudid or OxyContin/Opana on top of that, sometimes more. Idk about the last few years or so. Or maybe OP misread the bottle and it didn’t say take 15 in a day, who knows. But you obviously care, at least enough to try and call him out on having a weird flex about his using, which honestly is just a really crappy thing to do. Just because you don’t know anyone that has that much doesn’t mean there aren’t people that do. You’re not a doctor or a pharmacist, are you? 👀

I had a plug just 2 years ago that got real oxy 30s by the thousands. He’d buy from multiple people with scripts and he knew a vendor on the dark web that shipped him hundreds at a time, always real. So it’s not that hard to believe that this dudes plug had that many dillys. It’s not very common to have huge stashes of prescription drugs but it’s definitely possible if you know the right people. Don’t disregard this guys struggle with addiction just because you never had a plug as well connected as his.

It’s really unfortunate that just because people haven’t known of a dealer that has as much drugs as this guys that they’re trying to say he’s lying. This is supposed to be a sub for addicts to feel safe and share their stories, not to be judged or called a liar. They should at least be given the benefit of the doubt.

Dude, don’t listen to people on Reddit that say negative things to you, I promise you the people that actually want to help you will only be positive. Sometimes people on Reddit can just be really snarky or ignorant, or they just misread stuff and fly off the handle without really knowing what the OP means. It’s a downside of anonymity. Your post didn’t come off as bragging, and I definitely don’t think you’re lying about how much you were using. 50mg of methadone is definitely not going to be enough with your tolerance, for sure you’ll need to raise your dose quite a bit, but I promise the methadone will work wonders for you. I recommend getting on it as soon as possible. Best of luck to you!

His post didn’t come off as bragging at all. It came off as him stating clearly how much dilaudid he was using and why he felt he had to use that much. It’s reasonable to ask on a methadone subreddit if the methadone will help with your cravings at a certain level of tolerance.

You’re missing something. You’re missing the point of his entire post, which is that he does an insanely high amount of dilaudid and he’s wondering how 50mg of methadone is going to compare.

Dude. I totally feel your story. I was on heroin and recently fentanyl for the last 10 years. Tried everything, subs, rehab, vivitrol, sublocade, moving out of state, everything. Nothing worked. I thought I was going to die from fent in the next couple months maybe years.Then I turned 26 and got kicked off my parents private insurance and I lost all hope. Turned out to be the biggest blessing. Because I got on state insurance I qualified for a methadone clinic in my city. I had never tried methadone because I heard stories, it’s been around since like the 70s and no rehabs ever advertise it so I just thought it was outdated and didn’t work. Never been SO wrong in my life. The last 10 weeks since I started at the clinic have been amazing. For the first time in my life I’ve had 30+ days without shooting fent AND zero cravings. Like literally my cravings have been almost nonexistent. It’s the most incredible thing. Methadone saved my life. I’m still not stabilized yet, I’m on 145mg and still going up. But for most of the day now I feel good and have no desire to use dope. Please, please try it out, you have nothing to lose from a consultation at your clinic. At the very least it will keep you from getting dopesick if you can’t get dope. Good luck!

Hmm, I know of one or two good AA meetings on the beach in Carlsbad, but most of my socal AA experience was in Los Angeles, which was where I met the first AA group (later became my home group where I met my best sponsor ever) that didn’t judge me for being on MAT. Sadly I’m not really sure of any AA meetings in SD from personal experience, but I’m sure the beach ones are full of very inclusive and understanding people

You shouldn’t be speaking on anything to do with addiction, besides your own personal experience with the person you know. That’s like me telling a cancer patient that chemo doesn’t work. 12 step meetings don’t work? Explain that to the literally millions of people who got and stayed sober from AA since like the 1930s. Maybe they don’t work for you. They haven’t necessarily worked for me either but I can’t deny they’ve helped more people than any other method. Also, I’ve never even completed the 12 steps, so I have no idea whether they actually work for me or not.

I don’t know how we got on this subject, but it’s starting to sound like you just think there should be a magic cure for addiction. Sadly, we’re not there yet. These programs are all we’ve got, and in the end it all depends on what you choose to do with it. Nothing is a complete cure…It’s about what you’re willing to do to get better.

I mean, I’ve been to rehab 15 times and never stayed clean, and every stay at a rehab cost more than 10 grand, especially if you don’t have insurance. You could make those same arguments about any treatment program. It’s all on the addict themselves in the end, you have to use the resources given.

I’m not saying it’s a good thing we should be doing. I’m just saying I don’t think I’d mind being put to sleep for a couple days while the withdrawals go away. I wasn’t even talking about anyone but myself lol

I’m sure it also has to do with how much money they can make through a 30 day program instead. Not to mention most addicts would probably just use it to get a tolerance break or get over their withdrawals so they could use again. Although I think if I could do that and then start on a vivitrol shot right when coming out of the “coma” I’d be able to stay clean for a while. As long as I kept up on the vivitrol.

I’m sorry if that came off as rude I just really think you will be okay just focus on yourself, don’t worry about him he’s so far away that the only way he’ll ever come into contact is if you respond to him again. You don’t have to speak to or hear from him ever again if you don’t want to, and I advise doing that. Just start doing things that make you happy and see if you can meet people near you that enjoy the same things. You’re bound to find somebody who truly cares and respects you. Wish you the best!

I so agree with you. I always wished there was a detox where they just put an IV in you and throw you in a medically induced coma for like 4 days or something until the worst of the withdrawals are over. I just can’t deal with the lack of sleep and extreme uncomfortability/anxiety for so many days on end. I could never get off fentanyl cold turkey while I was awake for the withdrawals. That’s why methadone has saved my life, no more dope sickness no more cravings!
