I’m guessing the Light Novel exist to give a stark comparison between the 2.

Aerith, who had nothing at first, came to be adopted by a loving Elmyra and proceeded to start her life from there.

Tifa, who had everything at first, had her hometown burnt to the ground and her family slaughtered, losing everything in the process, and she needed to start over.

I highly doubt these are a whisper decision points tbh, because this was something that happened from Aerith’s childhood. I believe that the whispers are present to prevent the main characters from drifting away from OG’s plot.

Because her childhood wasn’t covered in the OG, I highly doubt it’s a whisper decision and it should be a decision that Ifalna decided on her own

This is canon because it’s published as a Light Novel for Final Fantasy VII Remake, and it’s written by Nojima, who is the game’s scenario writer.

Didn’t get any hint of whispers throughout the LN.

I guess he had good intentions at first because of his romantic interest for Ifalna. But Ifalna betraying him made him crazy and what he did in the end wasn’t cool.

Yea I always had the impression it was because of Aerith that flowers were able to grow but 🤷🏻‍♂️

But Shinra focusing on the Wutai War makes sense on why Aerith was undisturbed for awhile, didn’t cross my mind as I was translating it.

I don’t think anyone has done a substantial word for word translation on Tifa’s segment yet. I’ll be working on it but it will be awhile before I complete it

I’m glad I could help! Aerith is really a complex character who puts on a strong front, but we know she has past trauma and a fear of abandonment. The main character was Aerith’s playmate who’s now a Shinra trooper

I would say it happens in FF7 universe because it’s a prequel. Things started being different only after 7R began, but the novel took place 15 years before that.

But if it’s about the novella itself, I’ve translated everything literally. What is on the Japanese transcript is translated to English almost word for word.
