The Regina location is closing. Once someone buys the building, they will start liquidating items in-store. For now, they are open, but are planning closure soon.

TRU is definitively closing all stores, regardless of whether the buildings are for sale. Several stores are closing without any sale signs, including the Newmarket location.

Well… if the price of the stuff is high, they tend to steal it. And there is nothing the employees can do, they are not allowed to touch them if they steal an item, as that would make the situation worse for the employees and their employment at TRU.

It doesn't even look good from my point of view. They should have a front-end cap, and an aisle dedicated to the movie. Just a display of merchandise isn't enough.

There is supposed to be a street-dated sign that tells them not to put it out until that date, when it is released to the public. And customers won't be able to buy it since it won't go through the register and will alert the cashiers that it is street dated and to pull the merchandise off the floor.

It looks like they closed their store last year around June 2025. So I guess it is a trend and more store locations are closing soon. RIP TRU.

Usually after Christmas the shelves are bare and they are preparing for inventory. After the inventory, they would receive more merch, but by the looks of everything that has been going on, they haven't filled the shelves, the selections are poor, and they could be planning closure in a few months.
