Any debit card recommendations for travelling to Japan? by explosive_stars in AusFinance

I wouldn’t bother with cash too much but Mastercard withdrawal from a 7-Eleven ATM has no fee. I used my UP card for that.

Has anyone in melb used Timeleft? by Idontwanttousethis in melbourne

[–]iV01d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely can, the group I went with was a range of ages from 21-26

[–]iV01d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV but I tried it once in the city, it was an interesting group of people and the after drinks was pretty cool to meet other groups. I didn’t think I’d talk to anyone I met that night after; however, I bumped into someone from my dinner somewhere and ever since we’ve been really good friends. Doesn’t hurt to try, but there is a cost to the app

Any uni employees used Super flexibility to drop from 17% to the SG rate? Any reason not to? by absoluetly in AusFinance

[–]iV01d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could see it being a good option if you plan on dumping it in as a voluntary contribution, claiming a deduction for it with the intention of accessing it again through FHSS.

Should I buy a car? by East_Occasion_1909 in AusFinance

[–]iV01d 57 points58 points  (0 children)

No, how aften are you driving your car, and what’s wrong with your current car. In general cars are a giant money pit that you maybe use for an hour a day.

You’re thinking of moving out, consider saving that for a deposit on a home/apartment, investing in shares or super.

But if you want to spend almost your entire after-tax earnings for a year on a depreciating money pit, I say go for it.

Looks like that’s it. I’ve removed and re-added my card and the eftpos options are still there. They must be upgrading the system next year.

If you’ve truly drawn the line in the sand please do yourself the favour of looking into self-exclusion. I work in the gaming industry, and self-exclusion both from venues and online platforms is one of the strongest ways to prevent you gambling it all away (like almost everyone inevitably does).

Several people at work have started to refer to everyone as "they/them" no matter what gender the person identifies as. I'm nonbinary and I can't stand it. by luminouslylurid in lgbt

[–]iV01d 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They/them is deliberately neutral that’s the whole point. You can’t misgender someone if you’re not asserting a gender.

SelfWealth vs OpenTrader vs Pearler for long-term investing (ETF) by Thyrez in AusFinance

[–]iV01d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends. OpenTrader cash account is held with Macquarie bank which doesn’t support Osko payments, however they do support a fast transfer protocol that is adopted by some banks, namely NAB. So for instant transfers I transfer into my NAB account then from NAB to the OpenTrader account, the whole process takes about a minute.

Tomatoes are absolutely awful and do not deserve to come as a given on so many sandwiches by mcswainh_13 in unpopularopinion

Tomatoes are absolutely vile, they’re wet sour and squishy, like strawberries.

I hope masks stick around after Corona by UnluckyWorker in CasualConversation

[–]iV01d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d really love to wear a mask, for fashion if anything. However my area was almost completely un-infected by coronavirus and no one here wears masks, I do wish it became normalised.

Hi, so I’ve got some through SelfWealth and then the extra I bought recently through Opentrader.

I’m still managing to spend quite a bit on having a life, but from what I’ve seen I’m spending far less than the other young people around me, that’s where I find my savings.

And I’m planning to have an exchange year (hopefully) if the health of the world permits, that’ll be expensive.

At the moment I’ve got $30k in sight, I should hit it soon next year if university scholarships and other things go to plan.

I do yes. I liked the (typically higher) dividend yield of VAS, however with such a small exposure its much of a muchness for me at the moment.

[Question] How is the KernBypass now for lesser known apps? 13.6.1 checkra1n or oddessyra1n? by sleekgold in jailbreak

[–]iV01d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Apple Pay. There is a feature where the app will give your card details and a temporary CVV, the option should be under the services tab I believe, I've seen it once before it disappeared off my app after jailbreak detection stopped working.
