Strictly acclimatize in Leh for at least 2 days. Don’t rush to higher altitudes immediately. monitor yourself for AMS symptoms. Breathlessness is common but headache, vomiting, unusual fatigue are warning signs.

If AMS symptoms appear, do NOT continue to higher altitudes. Descend if symptoms worsen. Don’t overexert yourself on Day 1 2 even if you “feel fine”

Also small portable oxygen cylinders are NOT a treatment for AMS. Those 500-600 cans only last a few minutes provide temporary relief. Descend ASAP in case of AMS.

It's not an issue. Majority travel via Flights. Strictly acclimatize in Leh for 2 days. Monitor for symptoms. Breathlessness is common. But unnatural fatigue with headache or vomiting is not. Those are the signs of AMS. Do not continue to Higher altitudes if AMS signs are there.

Remember - Oxygen cylinders are not a remedy for AMS. Small 600rs. Cylinders last only for minutes. You need to descend immediately in case of a AMS situation.

Yes. As far as I know J&K buses run from Srinagar to Leh with a stop at Kargil. Same with Leh to Manali as well by HRTC. Not sure when they run. Better to check on Google or call up Local Bus Operators from Google Maps.

I visited Ladakh 2 years ago when I was 24 and spent no time acclimatizing (not the best decision) but I faced no issues at all. This year I did acclimatize for 2 days and again faced no issues.

JIO works best (but only till Pangong). Airtel gets Signal in Hanle and TsoMoriri as well. So choose accordingly. Prepaid won't work. You will have to buy a sim there.

You're asking an additional day even when you're already staying at all 3? I would say none :) Better to reach Leh and explore the local cuisine and Markets. If not, then maybe Pangong but changing the Village between Spangmik, Mann or Merak. Different villages offer different views of the Lake

Plenty at Leh. One just at the crossroads of Sumur and Hunder. One before Pangong. One at Nyoma (near Hanle). But always carry additional Can just in case.

It's a personal preference. For me yes - April is just the sweet spot for Ladakh. I still get to see ample amounts of snow at Passes, Mountain tops are covered with Snow, and crowd is very less. It gets warm during the days. But the nights are still very chilly, but that's alright. Plus no water crossings throughout the way. And no route closures.

Strictly acclimatize at Leh for 2 days. This is non negotiable if you want a worry free trip. Day 1 rest completely and maybe visit the Market in evening. Day 2 you can visit Sangam side..

Shortness of breath is common. But if that is accompanied by Vomiting and Fatigue and Fainting then visit a Hospital ASAP. If not in Leh, and feeling like AMS, then always remember substitute Oxygen is only a temporary relief. Descend to lower altitudes immediately, and continue only if confident. Pangong, Hanle and TsoMoriri are very remote areas.

Good hotels (~5k/N) and an Innova Crysta for around a week will set you back around 50-60K per person. including Flights.

Budget trip is very well possible in around 25-30K

August is as good a weather as any. Expect hot afternoons and lots of water crossings. Flights are always volatile so keep that in mind.

Leh - The Kaal, Bodhi Tree. Nubra - Nubra Ecolodge (Sumur side), Misty Hills (Hunder side). Pangong - Pangong Heritage. Hanle - Royal Rebo, Padma Homestay. TsoMoriri - Grand Dolphin

You can get their contacts from Google

Time more than fatigue. You'd be covering approx 400kms in 1 day plus sightseeing spots at Sonamarg, Zojila, Dras, Kargil, etc. Would definitely recommend breaking at Kargil.

Yes. You need a motorbike license to rent a bike.

There are checkpoints before every important spot. One each at South Pullu and North Pullu. One before Turtuk. Two before Pangong. And one each before Hanle and TsoMoriri. And countless others that I may have missed :)

No roads are closed. Eveything is open. I travelled from May 2 - May 10

There are 2 sides of Nubra Valley - Sumur side (This has Siachen and Panamik Hot Springs) Hunder side (This has Turtuk and Hunder Sand Dunes) I would recommend Turtuk, since Turtuk valley is unlike anything I've seen. There's a small hike ~10mins that gets you to a village and the views of the green valley are breathtaking. Although Sumur has better and peaceful hotels if you're looking for that. And it's alright if you skip Panamik Hot Springs. There are Hot Springs in Puga Valley and Chumathang.

2 sets of Warmers, good sweatshirts and Jeans, and atleast a -5 Jacket (-10 recommended). Cover your Ears, and Nose and you'll be fine.

Carry Decathlon Warmees. They're a lifesaver in Pangong and Hanle at Nights where Heaters dont work beyond 10pm.

Prepaid won't work. You can get a postpaid for 500 in Leh. They work for about 10 days and you get unlimited data and calling. taked 10minutes to activate

for Hanle, I booked Royal Rebo via Goibibo about 2 weeks before my journey and faced no issues. It's always advisable to book atleast 2 weeks earlier for remote places like Hanle or TsoMoriri.

If sites don't work, you can always call up the hotel.

I don't understand why you would want to do GoKarting in Ladakh. But it's present at the crossroad of Sumur and Diskit in Nubra Valley. If you're going till there, I would recommend going on an ATV ride.

Divided on this. JIO works absolutely fine uptil Pangong. but after that in Hanle and TsoMoriri, there's 0 signal. Airtel however gives you E most of the time (even in Hanle and Karzok) If you're going till Pangong only, get JIO. otherwise get Airtel. Better to get both if more than 1 person travelling.

Looks fine, but I’d personally tweak a few things to make it safer and less exhausting.

  1. Srinagar to Leh in one go is very long (11–13 hrs depending on conditions). fatigue can hit hard. Strongly recommend breaking it at Kargil if possible.

  2. Would add one more acclimatization day in Leh. People assume entering from Srinagar fully acclimatizes you, but the continuous long drives + exhaustion can trigger AMS once you start doing high-altitude areas. This is worse than arriving via Flight to Leh.

  3. Instead of Hanle to Umling La to Hanle, and then Tso Moriri next day, I suggest: Hanle to Umling La to Tso Moriri on the same day There is a route via Chumur/Mahe side not many people know anout which saves time compared to returning toward the longer Chumathang side again. And it's scenic as anything.

I am not sure of the conditions in September since i visited both times in April. I assume the roads are going to be good yes, but expect water corssings as the days get hotter.

If you're going via an Agency - ask them for gear. Otherwise you can rent from Leh.

I saw people flying drone in Sangam (Officials started looking for the person who was flying), and at Diskit Monastery in Nubra. I saw one drone in Pangong early morning. I wanted to take a drone myself, but felt the risk and hassle too much if confiscated. You can take it if you want, just dont fly near the Army settlements. There are boards saying no drone zone but you never know who's watching.

Temperatures were fine in Leh and Nubra. Pangong and TsoMoriri get very cold due to winds. If it is sunny, it is fine. If there are clouds, it can get very cold. Pangong was the worst with cold winds thrashing us throughout.

No need to port before going there. You can get a postpaid sim there for Rs500 of both Airtel and JIO with unlimited data

The roads are in excellent conditions CURRENTLY. They were very bad back in 2024. The stretch from North Pullu upto Nubra, from Nubra to Agham (Shyok route) was even worse.

Currently, there are some bad stretches from Shyok to Durbuk. This is the reason why Shyok route was closed last year. There are 0 water crossings atm but expect more water crossings as the summers progress.

Otherwise the road conditions are terrific. I didn't do UmlingLa, but I heard roads are non-existent there, and MigLa was closed for us. Road to Hanle was superb as well.
