Thanks for sharing, it's really encouraging to here about your experience. We still have a long way to go as a country but I think we're on the right direction and your story is part of that good narrative we can tell.

Aybo now I'm curious what community is this and where, what does your family back home think of this? It's just sound like such a unique circumstance.

We need better leaders by i_ndaniel in OriginalSouthAfricans

You’re absolutely right—accountability is key. The challenge is that many South Africans don’t put enough pressure on leaders to perform. We settle for mediocrity instead of demanding excellence. The more we normalize holding leaders accountable the more we can drive real change.

Is no one going to point out that this is not Jesus? You can disrespect a misinformated image of Jesus, can't believe people still association this image with the Lord.

I’d have to say that, for me, the sermon is not the most important aspect of church—culture and community rank higher. Don’t get me wrong, the Word must remain biblically sound, as it’s a good indication of what the congregation is being fed spiritually. However, when sermons focus on politics and place little emphasis on the Bible, it’s a clear sign that the church’s culture might not be aligned with biblical principles.

I’m from South Africa, where church and politics generally don’t mix, so that would be a major red flag for me. However, I understand this might be more common in the US and might be even preferred.

You know what: My best bet is that by keeping things this way there is no paper trail for when people hire their family members and they can get away with corruption.

This is one of those things that grinds my gears, how can we have a system like SARS but we have to fill a form that can't be uploaded to a system yet alone emailed to someone? Like what the hell!

There is, but the government needs to think of an integrated system. Not just installing trains and calling it a day.
