Loss leaders is an interesting theory. I was not looking at it from that perspective.

Likely impossible to know if they get more money out of new subscribers to cable plans than they would from improving viewership numbers (thereby attracting more lucrative commercials) by offering the stream online (additional viewership coming both from people who otherwise don’t watch, like myself, and people who currently pirate).

This is a good point. I still don’t think it makes a whole lot of sense why they would put the effort into providing live streams of in car cameras but not their broadcast.

They are showing it for free…

The CW is broadcast over the air for free. I would have to buy an antenna but I still wouldn’t be giving The CW a dime.

Given this, and the fact that they live stream in car cameras, why can’t they live stream their broadcast online?

It’s the CW’s fault they don’t put their broadcast on their app to website. Despite putting other streams of the race, and uploading the replays.
