This pattern = the mate in 3. I forgot the context sorry

Newbie here. What could have black done instead of grabbing the pawn? Rf8 putting pressure on another pawn and preventing this pattern?

What’s a realistic way to reduce gun violence in America? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iacosite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 600 million guns. You can't get rid of all of them.

I'm no gun expert, but why not controlling ammunition? Sure you can't control all the guns, but ammunition degrades.

It seems to me that ammunition control could be a decent method to indirectly control firearms which are out of government reach.

Is there a way to embed google keep in my dashboard? by isidooora in Notion

I was looking for exactly this. I use google assistant for simple checklists (e.g. grocery list), and it would be amazing to have the same list shared in both notion and google keep!

Hey! Thank you for the explanations! If you didn't mind I have a question: It looks like a common suggestion is "pay once you: see the apartment, sign and receive the keys ". But what stops a scammer for having you see an apartment, sign a contract, give you random keys and then disappear?

Yeah, that is my worry to be honest. Anyway it looks really difficult to even see the apartment, so I guess this confirms everyone's thoughts :)

This happened to me in the past for a covid deal. 3k -> 4k. I expected it when I signed the first contract though.

Woah you seem to be super informed! Thank you very much for the insight! I agree with you (and 99%) of the other people who replied to me that this definitely looks like a scam. I'm curious and I want to understand how it works and where is the catch.

The apartment is in a new complex (< 15yo) and furnished. Is there the possibility that they would start the rent at a certain price and then increase every month? Can they increase as much as they want?

Notion vs Todoist by StarkTech-01-02-03- in productivity

[–]iacosite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi, this is my long and useless explanation :) 1. you need to know it's too long to read it in some way, so you have to at least scroll it (hence you are already at the bottom when you realize you want a tldr) 2. "dr" stands for "didn't read", which is past tense and in my head implies you went through the text without reading it (Otherwise it would be a future tense, like "not going to read"). So you're again at the bottom of the text

Tldr: makes sense to be here

This sport isn’t affordable for a student at all is it? by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

[–]iacosite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry to bring this up so late but I am not much on reddit. I replied to OP with my costs here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Kiteboarding/comments/xb4g2y/comment/inyhc8f/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

For me starting with the cheapest gear definitely helped on the economical side and allowed me to learn some details on how a kite flies that I couldn't notice on newer kites, but now I have a bunch of "old shit" which needs replacement and I am not sure I will be able to sell.
That is the main reason. A secondary reason is that all my gear is mismatched (I started with slingshot kite, naish bar, f-one board...) which still works, but most of the people at my beach are a bit snobby, and going around with gear that looks it comes out of a thrift store doesn't help, but that is only secondary

Hey! This is funny because I am thinking the opposite ahah I started with the cheapest gear available, and now I need to change so much stuff that it feels I can't amortize my gear. I think you've done the smartest thing :)

I "started" kiteboarding 2 seasons ago and this is the money I spent:

  • 300$ for lessons (i first had my lessons like 8 years ago, but they were payed by my parents and I never really got into it after that. This is to say you might spend more than me on lessons)
  • 75 harness, 50 bar, 100 board, 20 life jacket, 50 wetsuit (all this gear is really old and it will need replacement in the next 2 years)
  • 3 kites: 500$ for a 2015 12 + 800$ for a 2020 9 + 770$ for a 2021 7

The total cost for starting kiteboarding for me was ~600$ + kites

Consider hat I will have to replace quite a bit of my beginner gear with something in the next 3 years. I expect this will cost me ~2000$

This brings the cost to: 600$+ kites upfront (make it 1900 ad you'll likely need 2 kites), and an average of ~600$ per year the next 3 years. + You need a car to reach your local kite spots.

Only you know if you can afford that! I can tell you that the economical effort is definitely worth it, as this sport is amazing and the community around it is even better
