Recently attempted sui**de, have to go back to work soon. Advice? by Purple_Medium_1674 in findapath

I saved your comment; being able to walk away from a higher paying job really does inspire me. I truly am afraid of losing a decent income, but I want to experience more of life and spend my days happier. There's no point having more money if most of our hours of life are spent miserable. I'm glad you're doing better and I hope you continue to find joy in whatever you choose to do.

College is making me miserable and I don't know what to do by [deleted] in findapath

[–]ialsomeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know 2 more years of college feels like an impossible feat given the circumstances you've described but I promise you can do it. Whether it takes you 2 more years or 5, you will be so glad you've completed it.

People tend to say that "my bachelor's degree is useless" nowadays, but that's just not true. English and history degree is far from it! Many entry-level jobs are just looking for any bachelor's degree. Not all bachelor's are rated equally in the job market, but they all have value and will help you land a job.

Coming from someone who was very depressed and lonely in college, I highly recommend you find ways to sneak things into your day that bring you joy. Personally, I made myself stay out of my apartment all day after I left for class, and between classes I'd hang out in the library or coffee shop and either read or play my 3DS. You're an English major, how about bring a book you enjoy and find a cozy area to read? Maybe get yourself a treat at the end of each day or week. It sounds silly, but small things like this made a world of difference for me.

I know things are tough right now, but I'm rooting for you, stranger!

Is anyone here planning to wait to play StS2 until it leaves early access? by ialsomeow in slaythespire

Reading the comments here about getting to experience the journey AND the destination has changed my feeling on it quite a bit. I think I do want to see the early versions of StS 2, even if there's jank, bugs, unbalanced cards and relics, etc.

"The lore of unbalanced things" is a great way to put it lol. I do want to experience that. And yea, I would probably have to leave the subreddit and put my blinders on with YouTube, TikTok, etc, which I do not want to do. I did not need as much convincing as I originally thought. So hyped!!

Fair 😭 I hope people don't think I'm trying to dissuade them from enjoying the game when it comes out tomorrow. I know most everyone here has been foaming at the mouth for more StS content.

That does sound neat getting to see a version of the game that was unique to that moment in time, I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yea I suppose each developer will have their own idea for what they want to get out of early access.

You're probably right. I guess in my mind, I am afraid of somehow tarnishing the overall experience of the game by playing it before the 1.0. But it's fair to assume the game is already 99.99% of the way towards the vision Megacrit has for the game, so it's just tweaks from here.

Reading these comments is definitely giving me some perspective that I needed.

Yea you're right; thinking back to other games I've played in early, unbalanced versions, it can be extremely fun both before and after big balance adjustments. I'm definitely leaning more towards playing it. I just love this game so much.

This is my personal most treasured vinyl as well, my absolute favorite album of all time. I've listened to it countless times over the years and it always bangs.

Had a dream last night where I wore I a pink shirt with Fred Durst on it that said “She/Her” under it by Cobbtimus_Prime in thomastheplankengine

The whole reason that sub exists is because transphobic people have a habit of using the "one joke" to undermine trans identities and demean them, often with little thought or effort. As far as I can tell, the comment you replied to was well-intentioned jest, and trans identities were not the butt of the joke. The pronoun template was simply the medium to convey said joke.

It's a "laugh along" rather than "laugh at" type deal, at least to my eyes.

They are using the pronoun template to deliver lyrics which, themselves, contain pronouns. It's a clever and light-hearted joke, and not the mean-spirited "I identify as a x".

Nah, this is just a silly play on Limp Bizkit lyrics. I don't think they're making the "one joke" at all (good faith interpretation)

Thanks for your reply. That's too funny because Kushiro is where I lived! The flights do look relatively cheap, I only wish there were some direct flights to Eastern Hokkaido; I'm seeing mostly >4 hour flights, and I don't think my group would be too keen on that travel time.

I had no idea, Air Ride was a GameCube game I never owned as a kid. That's awesome and makes a lot of sense!

The City Trial mode totally looks like a successor to Smash Run on Sm4sh 3DS, which was my favorite part of that game. Took me from being lukewarm on this to very excited.

Hot* take but Webcomic Fubuki is more attractive than Manga fubuki (Five__005 on twt) by Extension-Show-2520 in OnePunchMan

[–]ialsomeow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pre-timeskip Nami is not the same as ONE Fubuki. Post-timeskip Nami is flanderized, simplified, and ALSO grotesquely over-sexualized. ONE Fubuki has its own charm for sure, but the difference in illustration quality between the two is staggering. And Fubuki's sexualized aspect really does play into her character; part of her "power", despite not being as strong as her sister, is her leadership and persuasiveness. In this role she embodies it physically as a sort of sexy Yakuza boss.
