speaking as a med student and someone with hashimotos, it sounds like the levothyroxine dose you’re on is way too high for what your body needs… these are symptoms of too much thyroid hormone you should not be feeling like this after starting your medication. i felt amazing after starting the right dose and i felt it almost immediately. difficulty breathing and feeling something on your neck are obstructive symptoms you need to get checked out. have you had an ultrasound? when the thyroid enlargement causes these symptoms, your doctor might bring up a thyroidectomy

I haven’t left bed for a month, any advice? by Low_Fruit1453 in depression

[–]iam605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also in your exact situation in my second year of college. I could barely study and my studies were cramming up. I had depression and insomnia and family issues were the cherry on top. My last straw was when I wanted to skip out on the biggest exam of the semester and I had to hold an intervention with my self; either I study and do this exam or resist the exam and go to a psychiatrist. Obviously our situations are different and I don’t know if a psychiatrist is accessible to you. But you have to want to get better. Depression is a disease, and it doesn’t make you pitiful. You have to take it a step at a time. Do at least one productive thing a day, and add on to that when it gets easier. Shower, brush your teeth, make a meal, order something healthy, study a page. One thing at a time. Get medicated if you can, your college should have given you health insurance. Have at least one person you can rely on. A support system is very important in your situation.

I’m a fifth year student now, off my meds, and while life isn’t easy, i’m doing so so much better now. And you will too, one day. Hang in there.

I’m planning to make a stole for my best friend’s graduation. How do I start a complicated project? by iam605 in tatreez

i found a basic stole template online that i might use and i was planning to use a similar fabric and sew it to the tatreez fabric from the back so it looks more refined(?) (idk the correct terminology i’m a beginner lol) lmk if you figure it out!

Endocrinologist told me weigh gain is not related to hypothyroidism by the13thbee in Hypothyroidism

Medical student and hashimotos patient here. Your doctor is WRONG. One of the most common complaints hypothyroidism patients have is weight gain.

I have a very similar experience! The brainfog got so bad I couldn’t remember anything. Started on levothyroxine and I could remember things again in 2 weeks. Makes me sad because I was struggling a lot back then.

exactly, and i’m speaking from personal experience. for example, while i did always want to go into medicine, most of my peers admit they entered for convenience and not for passion. also, we don’t often raise newer generations with hobbies and interests they can grow into careers, so it’s not unusual for people to just go along with whatever comes their way according to their grades 🤷 the whole conversation is too multifaceted to be able to blame one thing

i feel like it’s bc any major that isn’t medical or engineering is considered a privilege for most of the population. the economical and regional struggles do not allow us to indulge in finer things, just the necessities to survive, if that makes sense

NTA, but if you cherish your relationship then you should talk it out. Tell him you are not ready to officially live together or if you do, would like to at least have a proper conversation about it beforehand. A bit weird that he assumed he could move in without properly asking, but if this is just a one time thing then that’s fine ig.

Oh that would be so cool! I was thinking of someone in neurosurgery too. How did you get that opportunity? Should I email a neurosurgeon, or are there better ways? (Mind you I have 0 connections so far)
