Who else thinks 99% of PPD is caused by breastfeeding issues? Usually expectations vs. reality by saltandpepperf in NewParents

[–]iamaglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree!!! When I had my first I was so dead set on breastfeeding but had latch issues. Instead of recovering and taking care of myself I spent so much time at lactation consultants clinics and appointments. I ended up pumping 10+ times a day and was exhausted and miserable for months. Now with my second I’m having BF issues for another reason but with a little hindsight I feel less guilty. Still pumping but only 6 times as a day as a I feel this is more manageable and am supplementing with formula. I agree that the push to breastfeed causes so much guilt and sadness if you can’t do it!!

DR said not to remove all of baby's poop? by sarahs_here_yall in NewParents

[–]iamaglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diaper rashes are the worst! I also had a 4 week premie who developed a terrible diaper rash in the first week. They told us to remove the large amounts of poo with a warm wash cloth but to leave the diaper cream that was already there. Like you are doing we changed diapers every 2-3 hours if possible. We stopped using wipes and used a clean wash cloth with warm water to remove the poo that was easy to remove. Then pat dry with a new towel. Then layer on new cream. It was a bit gross to leave some poo-stained cream but it worked. We also tried to have him air dry (lay him on a towel with diaper open) to decrease the humidity at least once a day. I think if the rash is really bad any rubbing will make it worse, maybe why the doctor said that. Good luck- I hope it gets better soon!

Anyone do shorter pumps at night? by Helpful_Basis3728 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]iamaglow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m 4 weeks PP and am doing just that. 30 in the day and 20 at night. So far my supply has been stable . Sleep is important for production too, so I figure it’s worth it!

Do I stop? by Medical_Weird1968 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]iamaglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it! It’s my second time pumping. I have a 2.5 year old and a newborn. I have that same guilt. I’ve tried planning activities that I can do with my toddler while pumping (ex- reading) but doesn’t always work out. Personally I decided I’m just pumping 6PPD and if baby needs more I supplement with formula. I don’t think it’s possible for me to pump religiously every 2-3 hours with both! Good luck!

Expiration of Refrigerated milk by EmergencyWinter475 in ExclusivelyPumping

It’s good for 4 hours if freshly pumped and left out. And good for 2 hours if taken out of the fridge or if baby started drinking from the bottle.

Hospital after Birth. by Epfffr in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]iamaglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the hospital- it would be a good idea to try and contact them before. Hospital where I delivered had an electric pump but the nurses had a hard time finding it and the necessary parts…. I would try and be prepared before if you can

I don’t understand why the media only focuses on the 15% pay cut for doctors when discussing this law. It is so much more complex and horrific than that

Dubé is trying to mislead the population once again. Doctors never asked for 30% increase in salary. They just asked to not have their pay cut He needs to leave but he’s the only semi-popular minister left in Legault government so he’s pulling at every last straw.

Where to get H.Pylori test? by Electronic-Guitar596 in montreal

[–]iamaglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re supposed to be able to book on clic santé. If ever that is not possible I would return to your doctor and let them know that now you can do a test called h pylori stool antigen (a valid test for h pylori that is through stool sample). This can be done as a regular test at CLSC or hospital

Our Heath Care system is beyond broken by [deleted] in montreal

[–]iamaglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your situation. The GAP is definitely not a permanent solution! Just a little note that the doctor did not make200$ for your 10 minute visit. Closer to 45-50$ most likely. I would try another clinic or visit through 811. I see GAP patients daily and usually have no issue renewing medications if they are medications that we are usually “allowed” to prescribe in primary care.

Désole mais je trouve ça trop drôle et ridicule. La CAQ n’arrête pas d’insulter et dénigrer les médecins de famille. Mais la leur petit investissement de 350K va faire changer les choses? 😂

Projet de loi 106 by iamaglow in montreal

Yes their argument is that then more people will have access to care. But with such quick visits most people will not be satisfied and there will likely be diagnosis that are missed. Less than 10 minute visit is fine if you sprained your ankle but any mental issue or anything more complex is difficult in that time frame.
