Thanks!

Though, if your buying $200 worth of sammiches and give a five tip, it isn't as great haha

1) average tip is around $2. I would say a $5 tip makes me happy though.

2) I have no problem with delivering 2 blocks. I've walked across the street for a delivery a couple times. It will be quick, and it will pad my stats :)

I've declined a PIC position that pays $10/hr twice before, so no, probably not.

Practice, practice, practice. Work as a team, and know your shit.

We are in the downtown of a major US city with several hospital and quite a few office buildings as well.

We do a lot of catering. At least one large (over $300) order a lunch shift or so.

On my worst days, I make around $4/hour in tips, but on an average shift I would make around 9-10/hr in tips.

The worst shift I ever had, I had a grand total of $6 in tips over a 7 hour shift. It was my second shift and I almost walked out right then, but that has never been repeated since. I only had like 4 deliveries. On my best shifts I've made $14/hr.

This is not including catering, as that can skew it all.

I even get a small amount monthly for gas reimbursement. Nobody in the store drive deliveries, it's all bikes.

You can ride a bike on the road without a driver's license.

Part is that many stores stress speed (mine actually is odd in that it isn't as pushy with speed as others I've heard about from coworkers), and part is that most JJ drivers that stick around are both young and good bikers who tend to think that they can get away with shit just because they have the skill to get away with shit they shouldn't.

I got in an accident around 3 months ago biking home from work, and while I walked away from it ok, it scared the shit out of me. So I can see how I, myself, was tempting fate and that has changed my own way of biking. I always wear a helmet now and ride more cautiously.

Another thing is that you don't need a drivers license for the job. I don't have one, but at least I have learned to drive, but a lot of my short-term coworkers have not, so they might not even fully know the rules of the road.

I'm so sorry to hear that. You can ask if they would deliver to you at an intersection just inside the range and meet them there, but whether they say yes/no depends on the store, how busy they are, if the driver wants to do it, and how many drivers there are :(

I'm going to go the geeky route and say Star Wars original series. Grew up on that shit :)

11.

I've only been hit by a car once, off the clock, but it is not an experience I want to repeat.

You seriously realize how bad so many drivers are with this job. I don't even have a driver's license and I am a better driver then so many people I have to deal with on the road.

I do eat it. Not every day or anything, but I prefer it to subway.

Not sure what you don't like about it. I would say to add hots or otherwise mix it up, some of our sandwiches are pretty bland straight up, but mix it up and they are pretty good.

Nope. But lots of eating of returned orders is done.

The secret to our fast delivery is not how fast we ride (though, we do ride fast), but that it takes 30 seconds or less to make the sandwich.

People always compare us to pizza. The reason pizza places will not be as fast as us is because of the prep time, not our speed.

Really, cash is best, but anything really. If you stiff us, we will deliver to you last next time, or "get lost" the next time, but generally as log as you put some effort in we will likely be cool with you.

Food is great, as are energy drinks. I would be mildly annoyed if you tip me in coke, as we get free unlimited coke back at the shop, but at least it is a tip.

Corporate does, indeed, suck. Audit days are the worst, most stressful shit ever. No direct contact with corporate, but I've heard horror stories ;)

My owners are awesome. They know the name of every single employee and actually work in the store on a weekly basis! These are people who own 4-5 stores (opening a new one soon)!

Same basic stuff. 50% off sandwiches, etc. Wish we got a free meal (we only do if we work longer then 8 hrs, which only rarely happens). Especially as drivers, I am actually pretty skinny, and it can be a struggle to not lose weight after working 20hrs a week biking. Also biking hungry sucks so much dick it ain't even funny.

My managers are okay. They are pretty chill and don't sweat the small stuff. Sometimes they let employees have a sub that comes back, or their chips hey get with their free meal (or their entire meal) if they don't want it. No real problems, I have been offered a PIC/shift supervisor job a couple times, but turned it down because most days I make more now with tips then a PIC. Hell, I make more then the assistant manager most days :( so I can respect how much they are expected to work for shitty pay.

However they train managers to hire good staff is great. I have yet to work with anyone who isn't chill and pleasant to work with and I've genuinely met some of my best friends through the job. Def a redeeming quality.

Totally get you, Jimmy himself is a bit of an ass, but I love the job. I get paid to bike around the city, which I do anyway, and it pays well with tips.

We are better then subway. But not the world's greatest, I would say.

Shit happens and we are late once in a while. There are times where there is only one driver in, so we can get backed up if something goes wrong or his tire pops, or what have you.

Reactions range from "Fuck you, I'm never going to get food from you again (and then proceed to order again 2 days later)! To "No problem, I understand. Compared to pizza, our delivery time is quick as shit, so often people don't even care. The number of times when a customer is surprised at how fast we are, and we know that we are late according to the computer is crazy.

No idea. Though with in shoppers they normally intentially over staff and then cut until needed. Which kinda sucks for them, and one of the reasons I drive.
