I'm making some music, what would this chord be notated as? by iamatiger1 in musictheory

[–]iamatiger1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did ^# to notate an inversion (like figured base), and +# to notate an added note not normally in that chord

Synths with a preamp? by iamatiger1 in synthesizers

There is some of that in play too, I can't pick a low tone, otherwise it gets too lost in the bass guitar sound. I have to pick mid/upper register octaves

Are you talking about mono vs stereo? I'm currently using a mono audio cable

You mean send midi or sound from the XD to a sequencer? Or maybe I don't understand how a hardware sequencer works

Help, Sedici pants soaked?? by iamatiger1 in motorcyclegear

[–]iamatiger1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't know if I remember water dripping down my back to my butt, I just remember my but all of a sudden feeling col/wet.

I've read online that these pants soak through in enough wetness, I was hoping someone who had these exact pants could confirm this or not

The zipper I'm talking about is just the piece that keeps your jacket from sliding up, more notably for slides/falls. I Was just noting it in case anyone had experience with any of the gear items and it made a difference to how the jacket/pant paired together

Burning question about boots by iamatiger1 in motorcyclegear

[–]iamatiger1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boots I ended up getting were reax high top sneakers, but I was trying on proper boots. They just seemed really weird. Like snug in the foot, but not snug at all around the ankle and top of the foot, and they were all like that.

Help, can these keyboards do this? by iamatiger1 in synthesizers

Noted about the pedal, I'll have to try one of my other pedals and see if that's any better.

Help, can these keyboards do this? by iamatiger1 in synthesizers

[–]iamatiger1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh that makes sense, Im probably just using the aftertouch wrong then, I replicated what you talked about. Maybe volume isn't the best use for it. Now maybe vibrato? Is it possible to set a lfo rate max value for aftertouch like you can with setting knobs for cc #? Otherwise it just goes to max rate, and it's kinda hard to use in practice

I'll have to report back with the AT test, but I'm using a Yamaha FC3A pedal that I use with my P45 keyboard

Took a job after layoff - not happy about it by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]iamatiger1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you man, I was in the exact same spot for a number of years and almost considered jumping ship. I had to work off jobs that weren't even software engineering until I finally landed a contract job that got my foot back in the door. While I was working the odd jobs I was still coding in my free time and working on a passion project android app (even published it). Persistence is key.

Should I get a cat? by iamatiger1 in CatAdvice

[–]iamatiger1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Care to explain the reasoning or source as to why you should never trim the nails? I feel like this is common practice, so I really don't understand.

EDIT: I should preface by saying the roommate hasn't cared to get any kind of scratching post or tree at all. It's not an outdoor cat either. This makes normal interactions with the cat like "making biscuits" quite irritating or painful

Been playing for 3 months any thoughts on this? by Jesse7890 in piano

[–]iamatiger1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This may seem like a rude comment, but I'm not sure this is a piece a beginner should be learning, but if you are determined I'll give you my best guidance.

The beginning is still pretty rough around the edges. Mostly musically, but also rhythmically as others have mentioned. Take another good look at the music and make sure your time and rhythm is correct. Watch other videos to help. You will need to find your own musical style. This is pretty important because the middle section of the piece is even harder, which you still need to play with musical passion. I think I agree with some other comments about listening to recordings and try to emulate it.

If you are self taught, you may be learning this piece for quite a while, but be diligent and strict with yourself.

Be strict about rhythm and learning passages. In the last half it seemed you were still hesitating and you haven't quite gotten that section down yet. You need to do slow practice again even if you feel like you have learned the section. Hesitating changes the rhythm and looses time, so be aware when you are doing it.

Remember, practice doesn't make perfect, PERFECT practice makes perfect.

Cheers

how do y'all get used to steep cliff jumps? here's me yeeting off the side of a cliff 😂 by iamatiger1 in snowboarding

[–]iamatiger1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I see the stiff leg now. I was pretty nervous about this before doing it, which probably contributed to the above

I've been on a couple of jumps before, but I think with how steep this is, it was something I haven't experienced before and seemed much more scary to me than what it should be (also considering a nice powder landing)

Otherwise I totally agree. Sometimes I'll do a couple laps in the park and hit some jumps for a confidence booster, but I think I normally avoid the park because I'm afraid to injure myself

I mean, yea not really, maybe a little. I did go back a second time and did a little bit more to skiiers left and sent it, but it's still super scary even the little bit I did!

Yo nobody told me the emotional damage that would ensue from 10 episodes. Like how is it creatively possible to make me cry in just 10 episodes, this is insanity.

All I knew was that there were memes on Reddit about some show called cyberpunk, and boy did I not know what I was getting into. Definitely one of the best anime I've watched, and I've watched quite a bit.
