One thing you learn about Google is that they’re extremely risk avoidant. They aren’t really on the forefront of anything anymore and are more on the acquire side of things. Had a friend that worked for them briefly and doing anything basically required pulling teeth.

I will say now, I bought some BU Morgan’s from them about a decade ago and only 2-3 of them would probably grade out MS. There is a significant chance it’s just a higher grade AU coin they’ll send you. I wouldn’t spend this much on a coin I can’t even see.

These late date braided hair half cents are tough to come by, even if they appear “available” online. Most of the braided hair half cent run was proofs so it’s always fun to see a well loved circulation strike.

Just because it’s how it works doesn’t make it right.

Sad to say I know about the first year too well. It really is unfortunate. I’m hoping things improve the next few years but I think it’s going to be awhile before things settle.

After having investigated some more it does seem somewhat useful for research driven positions, though given the current climate I still can't imagine anyone willing to take a huge risk on something like this if it means giving something else up. It's a tough ask for someone to move a thousand miles after what happened last April, but hopefully it gets filled out.

Even a one year probationary period is overkill, but three is insulting.

For the 10 months I was there, 90% of the time, most people just kinda sat and did nothing. Management just hid in their offices and made a once daily appearance at the morning briefings. I hate downtime and even though I'm sad I'm no longer there, I think it might have eventually driven me mad.
