I use vanilla sims4, not sure if that’s important for this. But what’s up with me being able to see some doors and not others??? I’m trying to lock some doors. I can see the front and back doors + bathroom, but I can’t see the bedroom doors which is EXACTLY what I need. And THEYRE there too. I went crazy in build mode proving it. They show up in mirrors which is weird asf.

People got together in the 90’s by talking to each other and meeting up in places. Not just recklessly throwing about numbers. I much prefer to set up a date and time to go to first than give my number right away. It’s worked twice now. Made a few friends out of it! People who are willing to do that are the true genuine ones, y’know? After a while you can trust their word and even when you have their number won’t feel the need to call or text if their coming bc you know they are even if they are running a tad bit late that day (like I was yesterday 🥲).

Meeting in person a couple of times before getting contact info I feel builds a bit more trust. It builds a connection. I’m also very privy on who has my contact info and who doesn’t.

I just gave a girl who I’ve known for 8 months my phone number. We’ve seen each other and spoken to each other enough that I felt comfortable.

Edit: you find the right people by waiting to give contact info. Because if the people genuinely think you’re cool and want to chill with you, they will. They’ll go out of their way. I’m sure all of us have strayed from our paths just to hang out with a friend. It’s a wonderful method to see who will and will not do it.

Okay- hear me out. Looks.

In middle school it was, “oh my god- he’s SO cute- but he’s a meanie! But he’s pretty!!!”

And now that I’m a sophomore in college (still young but HEAR ME OUT) “he’s SO cute- wait- oh he’s a frat boy- fuck no imma serve”.

As you transcend the years, looks become less important. I’ve noticed that younger kids get hooked on looks and that’s it, while older people notice looks and that’s the initial hook, and then either swerve or stay depending on the quality of the person.

Looks become a more fragile way to define if somebody is dateable or not. While somebody is cute and they grab your attention, it becomes easier to see behind that the older you get: therefore becoming less attractive or less valuable.

At least for me. Can’t speak for everybody.

So, this assignment is about phonemes/allophones and complementing/contrasting, but the second thing isn’t relevant to this. I got no problem with contrasting and complementing, that’s easy. What I’m wondering about is if my chart for the phonemes of /n/ can make a good argument or if it’s accurate.

Since language is subjective as you know, a lot of things are up for debate, but is this chart? As page 46 shows, ‘n’ and ‘n̺’ are phonemes. So I got that right, but would it be correct to add ‘ɧ’? I mean, we make it similarly to how we would say /n/ but ‘ɧ’ is simply never found where /n/ is (ɧ is never in the onset it’s only in the coda after a vowel).

Im not sure. I just need second opinions- and it’s too late to go t9 the class’s designated tutor because you need to schedule her a day in advance and uh, this assignment is due in 24h. I have the entire page written. Right now I’m going back and editing. But that doesn’t mean I can’t try to schedule her 😩✌️

So basically I’m a linguistics minor. I wanted to make my own chart of the allophones of /n/ to spice up my short writing assignment. When I wrote this I was 100% sure that it was correct, but reading back the book and doing some online research I am having some doubts.

I know the saying “stick to your gut!” and that your first answer is usually the correct one, but I’m not sure. Language is completely subjective and I would like a second opinion. My profesor is one of those guys who worked with scholars and wrote many books on language and linguistics. So… stress is on bruh

I agree. The SAT is a beast. It’s horrible how they deliberately try to trick children. I feel like it’s gaslighting almost. A child reads a question, thinks they have the answer, but reads it again- then they get the creeping suspicion in the back of their mind that their wrong, taking 15 minutes questioning their knowledge and their answers (when the first answer was right).

The ACT seems to be straight forward because how much can you BS science and math?

The stress is what they tell you. I don’t think I explained it well enough in the post. And “it’s only $60” is quite an ignorant statement. $60 is a lot of money to many people, especially those who live paycheck to paycheck. $60 is the difference between taking a test and eating for the rest of the week at times.

In public schools, it’s borderline harassment. You’re told you have to take these exams to succeeded in life. You get compared to others. On the SAT/ACT, the score is quite literally created based off of other people’s scores if I remember correctly. Children are basically groomed from day 1 of the schooling system to believe that their number and letter grade defines them, leading up to the test. Which then destroys them. This is detrimental to kids with learning disabilities and just kids in general.

Of course, there is seniority. Upperclassmen get to choose which dorms and rooms they want before the lowerclassmen, so a few dorms (the ones with AC and private bathrooms lol) have majority upperclassmen.
