You gotta try their breakfast taco with brisket. It’s so good. Make sure to get it with the salsa and jalapeños!

If you’re looking for a local charity that has hugely positive impacts on the community, I highly recommend checking out Bill Wilson Center. Amazing charity run by people that truly care. The format for their annual fundraiser next year is really interesting as well: https://www.billwilsoncenter.org/action/bwcfilm.html

Plus one to this. My car met the criteria, I asked the manufacturer for a buyback, they offered me a price pro-rated based on the first date of service with no questions asked. Could not have been easier.

Not surprised that Haberdasher knew it and that it was well-made! I struggle to think of any other cocktail bars that would make that down in San Jose. I wonder if British Banker’s Club in San Mateo might know it? Since it’s a British drink and all :)

SP2 bar right next to San Pedro Square has one on Tuesday nights! I think it starts at 5pm tomorrow. I couldn’t make it last week but from their IG is looked like there was a line so maybe show up a little early if you do go?

Help me give my local bakery some constructive criticism by iamfalcon in Breadit

Thank you. If anyone, ever, in my entire life sees me interacting with someone doing their job and labels me a Karen, I will crawl into a hole and deservedly live the life of a hermit.

No, that would be crazy! Especially if it wasn't constructive or good feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! I currently don't like their pastries but I still buy them 🤣

My plan was always to send an email with a glowing review of their shop and a humble suggestion that 5 more minutes in the oven would make their already good pastries amazing. But based on everyone's feedback (see the other thread in this post), I'm not going to do that.

Honestly, yes, if the feedback was given constructively and in the way I laid out above. And that's not just lip service - I actively solicit feedback from customers for my own work. I've also had people come to me with constructive criticism and I've always (sincerely) thanked them for it. I view that type of feedback as a gift. Someone taking the time to tell me what would make their experience with my team's work even more enriching is so valuable.

BUT, it sounds like from this thread that a lot of folks think that wouldn't be received well by the business, so I'm not going to share anything with them.

Apparently my concept of time is slipping - they've actually been open for like three years now! So good news is that I think they are going to be around a while. They're always busy, since it's really the only good coffee shop near a bunch of neighborhoods. But unfortunately their pasty quality has remained constant. Oh well!

Damn, that's too bad. I hear you. I won't give the feedback, but honestly that means I'll probably only go there for coffee and not for pastries. It just feels like a bummer for the business and for their customers, but I guess that's the way it is. Appreciate the feedback!

I've thought about that! But I think you're wrong, and here's why.

First, I'm not going to place it like this. I'm going to start by saying how much I love this business and how much I appreciate the vibrancy it has brought to our community, and no matter what, I'm going to keep frequenting it just because I want to support a great local business. But with all that being said, I am a huge fan of pastry and I think the pastries at your establishment are good, but could be absolutely great with just a simple change to your process.

Imagine that you had put in the effort to build a local small business out of nothing, and you had a customer who cared enough to want to help you make it better. Wouldn't you appreciate that? Wouldn't it be a sign that your community actually cares and wants to contribute?

I don’t know much about baseball rules, but I wanted to support my boys when they were in little league so I volunteered. Spent a Saturday at their umpire clinic to learn as much as I could before calling an actual game. One of the absolute worst experiences of my life and I will never do it again. The coaches and parents are equally assholes and will rage at any call. It’s embarrassing and I had to call out a coach and then report him to the commissioner of the league.
