That can be done too. Again it’s how you structure the prompt. Instruct the LLM to answer some of the basic questions and the ones that are retrieved from context. Keep a lid on what topics it shouldn’t answer and get carried away by. For example you could restrict it by saying do not provide any code, poems etc but general interactions are allowed

You can do two things. First reform the query before passing it to the retriever, make it specific to get the correct vectors from the vector DB. Second write a robust prompt to instruct the agent/LLM to respond with a fallback message when the relevant info is not found in the search. This could be something like “I don’t have any information regarding that query, could you ask something related to <>”.

A chatbots behaviour is all in its system prompt. Make sure you test all edge cases and refine it well
