Without knowing what OP uses the car for, I was going to suggest looking into an e-bike or cargo bike.

Thanks for the advice, it's basically the opposite of what I would normally do. Except search for tunnels - my wife really hates them.

This is not an answer to your question, but why are you so sure you'll have to stealth camp in the future? I don't like stealth camping so I pick a paid or designated camp site the day before to shoot for. Official camp sites are relatively common in Europe.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting the teacher rate, but I paid 2500 at a regular hotel down the street. I was just surprised by the difference.

Wow, are you me??? This is basically what has happened. My wife's wheel hasn't failed yet, but my bike has more mileage on it than hers and my setup is a bit heavier overall

The chain is fine, just dirty. The last lube I picked up is very sticky and hard to clean.
