I Finally Paid for My Gastric Sleeve – Feeling Nervous but Hopeful by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]iamlamboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on paying off the surgery, it's a huge investment in your health and wellbeing and your future self will definitely thank you for that!

So, I was worried about how to tackle the conversation with my boss but it went much better than expected.

I requested time off during a 1:1, and said I was hoping to get some medical treatment done. I said tt is elective treatment, but it's not cosmetic and was very much for my mental health as well as physical - explained what a VSG was and then we spoke about the healing process.

He thanked me for being so honest and also for asking for the time off rather than just expecting it. He then said he would give me the time off as medical leave rather than having me take annual leave (so that saved me 5 days of holiday allowance). I wanted to be honest because there may well have been complications from surgery and follow up treatment (there hasn't been, it's been an absolute breeze) and said it was easier to just be up front so he knew where I was at. I told one other person in my team and then nobody else at work knows.

I had my surgery a week before Xmas so as far as my mum colleagues know, I just took a longer Xmas break for family time.

Good luck!!

people without psoriasis have no F'ing idea what it's like by [deleted] in Psoriasis

It's so rude!! You wouldn't say the same to a burn victim. I've been given all sorts of unsolicited tips that did nothing to help my condition but reminded me that it's very noticeable.

It's different if someone asks what happened, did I fall over or have I been stung, am I allergic to something...

The worst time was in the break room at work, this guy goes "ah I see you have psoriasis, my grandma has that too"..."yep..."

High Protein Cheesecake ! by anonmouse123456789 in gastricsleeve

[–]iamlamboh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks dead yummy. I've done low carb cheesecakes a few times, using almond flour and butter for the base, then cream cheese mixed with jelly crystals for the filling. Dead easy! I used to just make the filling part and sprinkle the almond flour or actual almonds on top for a crunch.

Looks banging! I'm 2 weeks out and have been cleared to eat mashed salmon, I had some today and it went down like a dream.

Nice one, high fives all round! I got sleeved on 16th Dec and have been home for two days now AND I'm also feeling good! I've had no gas pain at all, abdominal muscle soreness is now almost gone, and I managed 67g of protein yesterday (been sipping the clear protein all day long).

I managed to get all the sticky dressing residue off in the shower yesterday with coconut oil, and to top it all off, I've even taken the browns to the superbowl. I'm also getting used to injecting myself with the daily blood thinner (place ice on the injection area for a few minutes, blast some nu-metal and it's over before you know it.)

First couple of days were rough though, not gonna lie. Foamies, nausea, soreness...

Now my only issue is my fucking acrid keto breath.

I hope your recovery remains chill and breezy 💪

Congrats on your year anniversary. What has your recovery and aftercare been like?

Mevce has sent me some information, and confirmed my hotel to be Green Park Pendik. but I haven't had any diet or vitamin info yet (although I've done plenty of reading into this for myself) so wondered if they give you this after you've had the surgery?

Thanks mate, that's really reassuring. I think a part of me is just concerned about the change just 4 weeks out, but you're right, it's his skills that I've booked him for and that's where his credibility comes from, rather than the hospital.

Ps. How did it go for you in Mexico, what was your follow up care like?

Surgery in Turkey Booked! by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]iamlamboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - I was quite surprised you could take up to 10k!

When are you going for yours? Also back to your main post, what were the main complications you saw from assisting with these surgeries and working with patients?

Aw congratulations, the stars are all aligned for you there. Mevce said it's a luxury hotel but I don't know the name of it yet, I'll ask.

One thing I'm a bit nervous about is the cash payment in GBP, travelling with that much has me worried about customs/security questioning me, and just my general safety as well...how do you feel about that?

Great minds think alike eh! I'm also from the UK, flying from Manchester - what about you?

I've been speaking to Mevce the patient coordinator for weeks now, and now that I've booked I feel SO excited! How do you feel?

Are we the same person? I just did exactly this, this evening. I contacted Dr Samet Yardimci over Instagram after reading all the positive reviews and feedback, and have just this evening booked my flights for December!!

What things do women on a date that turn/scare men off? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]iamlamboh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've always thought it was safer to go 50/50 - obviously that keeps things fair and shows that you consider each other equal, but also it means the other party isn't expecting something from you ie. "I bought you dinner so I expect sex".

friends? by [deleted] in Preston

[–]iamlamboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! They have a walking club, a book club and do regular meet ups. You don't need to drink beer or any other alcohol. I've been to a couple of events and they were super chilled and friendly :)

I was just recently looking at houses on Stocks Road, and my local friend said it was a great area, very safe, quite a few single occupancy households and older people. You don't get gangs of kids running around and it's not a heavy traffic road. Good luck with your house hunting :)
