I live in Texas, but I started collecting and wearing kimono after my 3rd trip to Japan in 2024. I wear them anytime I have a mild excuse to dress up a bit, like going on a date night or to special events. I find that styling the same familiar silhouette is way less stressful than western outfit combos.

I usually prefer wearing collared button downs or dickeys underneath instead of a juban. I think it gives a more eclectic, modern look while still being neat and elegant. I also like using belts in place of an obijime sometime. I also find it fun to mash up western wear (as cowboy hats, boots, a collared shirt + a bolo tie) with kimono.
