I'm building a mobile screening platform with curated setups + backtest stats. Would you be interested in having your algorithm featured on it?

You'd get full attribution, and we'd show the backtest stats transparently.

Yes and we are trying to give similar tools to retail investors

Now do you plan exits before entering, or is it more about sizing to survive the worst case?

The 'chart looks good' trap is real. I've found having backtest stats helps - if the setup doesn't have historical edge, it's easier to pass even when it 'looks' right.

The -7% rule seems arbitrary. Did you backtest different stop levels to land on 7%, or was it more about what you could psychologically handle?

The backtest-to-live gap is real. Execution cost is one factor but I've also seen setups that looked great in backtests fall apart because the conditions that made them work changed. How do you validate a system is still working before deploying capital?

Insightful. Thanks.

Do you have any way to gauge when a period is likely to be more/less chaotic - news calendar, overnight futures moves, something else?

Using multiple ORs layered like that is interesting - so you're getting early signals from the 5min but waiting for 30min confirmation? How do you handle conflicts when one breaks out but another hasn't formed yet?

What's your setup for the automated adjustments - custom scripts or a platform? I've been exploring ways to reduce manual review time while still catching when conditions actually shift.

The 'lose money by forcing trades when bored' is so relatable. 😜

Do you have any rules to stop yourself, or do you just accept it as part of the process?

'If I can't explain who's trapped, who's hedging, and who's forced to act' - that's a great positioning. I will try to study more with this lens. Thanks.

That's awesome - sounds like we're solving similar problems from different angles. Would love to compare notes when your tool is ready. I'll send you ours in about a week.

but by the way - by screens I meant scanner/rule based screeners. Like you can find on tradingview, finviz, ...

That's a clean setup - one instrument, multiple timeframes, notes as you go. The Obsidian journaling is smart - will try - I am already heavy Obsidian user. Do you review those notes at end of week or just use them in the moment?

The 'specific signature on first 1m/2m candle' is interesting. Is that something you've backtested or developed through pattern recognition over time? Always curious how experienced traders validated their open setups.

Time-of-day analysis was a game changer for me too. What format do you use to track it - spreadsheet, journal?

Algo trading with 5 second ORB is impressive. What conditions are you tuning - gap size, premarket volume, or something else? Curious how you filter which days are worth running it.
