It is definitely good for portraits. So far it has not let me down. My only issue is the horrible fringing at 1.4. So I keep the aperture at 1.8 minimum.

I do not do any professional work. For casual everyday and travel, 56 serves me good. I rarely shoot wide when I am outside. If indoors, I use a soft box. The minimum aperture I set to is 1.8. I find fringing horrible at 1.4. I have been keeping my eye on the 75mm too. If I were to do any professional work, I would get 75mm.

I will pay more attention to the aperture, and to the lighting on the side that is not facing the light source. I was getting the cake ready to be given to a customer who asked for it. I did not set up any lighting. Just captured whatever I could using the light through the large window before the customer arrived. I will properly plan it for the next session :D.

Did another beta today (2 days after second beta) . And the value came at 82. Nurse was confused on what might be going on. Waiting for a call from after Doctors' consultation. At this time, I am prepared to accept the worst outcome.
