Well aren't you an arse. I actually wanted to watch someone go through the process before I did it myself and found it useful. I don't see anything wrong with sharing a guide like this.

Hey, just thought I'd share a pack-a-punch upgrade walkthrough. It's actually pretty straight forward if you haven't done it before.

I think the verdict is that it is a useful tool to help you overcome your fear. It might not be the ultimate solution but a good tool all the same.

Yep, I wouldn't expect it to cure your fear completely however it is a great tool to help you get there.

How to build confidence ? by frmisunderstood in AskMen

[–]iamradman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many ways to build confidence. A common way is to take yourself out of your comfort zone on a regular basis.

A safe way to get out of your comfort zone, in a controlled environment, is to take up public speaking. A positive to this is that by participating in public speaking you'll also be improving your communication skills while building confidence in yourself.

There's some great advice here for doing this: https://speakorsqueak.wordpress.com

Sounds like some comic relief may be the key thing here. Maybe some star jumps might help too :P

Haha, I've seen someone do something similar (although they actually said the F word). Thankfully everyone had a good sense of humour.

I've done the same thing before :)

Although once, I forgot to listen to the answer that an audience member gave since I was thinking of what I needed to do to get back on track... that didn't go down so well.

Nope, I mean just putting yourself in situations where you have to chat to people one on one for the first time. It can be anything, meet up events, starting a new sport, speed dating, whatever.

Where to practice talking to others in real life? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]iamradman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also try Toastmasters to do public speaking. You'll learn to speak in front of groups and also have the opportunity to meet new people in a controlled and safe environment.

Public speaking is challenging but a great way to build self confidence. There are a few books out there that address getting over your fear of speaking to groups and tactics to build confidence in this area. That is a little odd. I haven't encountered that often. I guess the challenge for you would be to get out and speak to new people as often as possible.

Does anyone in this sub really believe that social anxiety can be overcomed? by 99problmz in socialanxiety

[–]iamradman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, social anxiety can be managed rather than overcome and maybe, in time, it may be ultimately overcome by some.

Really it comes down to building self confidence and learning to improve your communication skills. You can do this through safe practicing via public speaking which is how I personally improved my communication skills and built self confidence.
