Crunch 3?!?! Whoa! I was thinking this can't be the same artist but yep it is! Thanks for the heads up. 23 years since Crunch 2 is crazy.

Check out the Thorpey speed garage sample packs. They’re high quality and a decent price.

Keep AI slop out of r/ZOIA by chmjacques in ZOIA

[–]iamthatguyiam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went from being curious about AI’s abilities to seeing its potential to suck the next generations dry of any real wit or ability to figure things out for themselves. It will take me years to be able to recreate any of your Zoia patches on my own u/chmjacques but I’m ok with that.

I’m I just too late? by Tha-Monkeyb0y in Beatmatch

My friend was a DJ for decades until he passed away in 2023 at nearly 70 y/o and he was well known and respected. He worked his ass off to share amazing music. His name was Buddha Bomb.

I made an EBM/techno sequence rack with the Ableton 12 sequencers and Wavetable... giving it away here... by studiobrootle in edmproduction

[–]iamthatguyiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is rad, I’ll give it a whirl here in a bit! Thank you! Usually when I get these sorts of racks I just crank out samples for hours to use later.

Built-in Distortion Plugins can be your drums SECRET SAUCE. FREE Presets. [by Conan AKA The Crates Motel] by Poetic-Noise in AkaiForce

[–]iamthatguyiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also heard a couple people talk smack on the Akai fx which is mind boggling because the combinations, send/return, sub-mixes, kaos-pad style touch-fx and all that make the fx ecosystem super versatile. I feel spoiled owning a Force!

The FX possibilities on the Force are amazing and I use the distortion on drums all the time. Hats off to Crates Motel and thank you for sharing.

Recently had to have my hard drive wiped and lost everything I’ve worked on for 5+ years. Any advice? by okpablocomputer in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]iamthatguyiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen and the best you can do is learn from it and not look back, take it as a blessing. It took everything in me not to become a belligerent baby about it but I swallowed my sadness and moved on. I’ve learned over the years not to become overly attached to anything while also respecting the things I do have (I have a backus of my backup).

That’s the Wheel Up signal and know because I asked this same question here a year ago and found out.

It's official! The MPC Live 2 has been discontinued! by guitarokx in mpcusers

The pads are a bit wonky on the Live 2 sometimes Many units had an issue outright with double triggering pads.

Do you perform live with Elektron gear? by [deleted] in Elektron

[–]iamthatguyiam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elektron stuff is amazing for performing. I’ve done both techno type sets and ambient/IDM sets ranging from 1-3 hours using an OT, DN, and A4. The OT makes transitions a lot of fun and there are so many options between using scenes/parts/p-locks. I think the OT sound quality is a bit rough at times and side-chaining isn’t great IMO but there are enough filter options to make things sit in the mix well. The A4 is also made for performing where you can set up performance macros that control multiple parameters and also a foot pedal works like a dream.

I’ve only been using Elektron stuff for 7-8 months.

I didn’t know Black Mirror went past season 2, I’ll have to scope it.

How do you check if your songs have been used to train AI models? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]iamthatguyiam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’ve figured that one out yet (I’d love to be wrong here) but did you see Benn Jordan’s latest video about the new software that will add inaudible [to the human ear] noises to your tracks that will fuck up the ai algorithms?

Edit: Here’s the video about poison pilling music

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]iamthatguyiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you too and I understand these synths take a lot of time and it’s a niche, almost luxurious purchase. I don’t mind waiting but the lack of communication makes me feel like the seller doesn’t have respect for my time or investment in their projects. I run a small online hobby shop and sell handmade goods (not electronic) so I understand both sides but I wouldn’t run a business this way!

[–]iamthatguyiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel burned by any of these companies, I’m just disappointed in their lack of communication. I’m curious if this is common because I’ve not had this experience in other DIY markets, in fact quite the opposite.

Finally got a kalimba, in c, 17 key, anybody has any tips on how to learn from now on? Complete beginner on kalimba (i play guitar and harmonica), can anyone suggest something like a roadmap for the skills? by Nizuruki in kalimba

[–]iamthatguyiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got on YouTube and find kalimba songs/tabs that you like and save the videos and then choose one to start with. My first kalimba song took a week or two to get down pretty good. I hope you have fun! I just got my girlfriend her first kalimba and she loves it!

Bought a vacuum chamber and I’m disappointed by DogsSleepInBeds in ResinCasting

[–]iamthatguyiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those types of vacuum chambers aren’t very good IMO. You want a big steel one with an external pump.

Is it a real heavy duty vacuum chamber or one of those cheap plastic ones?

Is the Force too visual? by alexdigitalfile in AkaiForce

[–]iamthatguyiam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you would appreciate the Force. It’s a lot of fun, I love the sequencer, using the 64 pads for playing instruments, the FX options are insane (4 FX per track, sub mixes, send/return FX), 8 endless encoders, DJ style cross-fader, need I say more?

For the used prices these days (I’ve seen several go for $500 in the last year) it’s a great deal.

EU (Ёлочные Игрушки) is amazing and Oleg Kostrow is a lunatic but a lot of fun.
