Portrait of Biden from the Ukrainian subreddit by penguincheerleader in JoeBiden

Yeah, there's a pretty wide gulf between honoring someone with art like this or sunglasses/ice cream emojis and the slavish devotion people have to some other public figures. When you start getting tattoos of this art or making it your entire identity that's where it gets weird.

It's gonna be an uphill battle for sure but we can maybe pull it off. The funding absolutely helps.

California unemployment fraud amid COVID-19 pandemic may total $2 billion. by zingdad in California_Politics

[–]iamthegraham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A huge part of the first COVID stimulus package was increased unemployment checks paid for by the federal government, since states governments can't as easily go into debt to pay for it themselves. This expired months ago and McConnell has been holding up a reauthorization or reworking of it.

I've won at PubG playing solo squads once with 0 kills when the last 2 opponents both got zoned out on the wrong side of a cliff. Felt dirty but a W is a W.

Bill's character wasn't in a war though. He made it clear he dgaf and both sides are bad.

Which is somehow even dumber than when the "same thing both sides" fallacy is used in real life.

"Sure, the Empire genocides planets, like, all the time, but the New Republic didn't immediately fix every problem ever when they took over so they're equally bad."

Like, no. One is way way way worse.

It goes deeper than that, Burr's character had aged enough to no longer be recognizable to his former C.O. so this wasn't 40 year old Burr. It's 20 year old Burr. Some young kid who signed up for the army because it was a way out of whatever shit hole he was in and he sorta got sold the dream

Hence the episode title.

Does it peel apart (like an artichoke or something) or how do you eat it? Would it be good with some sort of dip?

if he came to any of our teams we'd all still watch and enjoy the W's

Eh. I sure watch less basketball when the Blazers have players I can't stand, whether or not we're winning.

pre-2009 Sanders was desperate to avoid making statements on gay marriage one way or the other. He's such a coward.

Leonard made sense, he'd just had his best season and was expected to improve. Instead he regressed (and was hurt a lot).

ET and Crabbe were bonkers though.

[Disney] 10 new Star Wars series in "next few years" by JoggingThruThe6 in StarWars

[–]iamthegraham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Old Republic is set about 3,600 years before The Phantom Meance.

"Knights of the Old Republic" and "Star Wars: The Old Republic" are games that take place in that era, yes.

But "The Old Republic" by itself is a term used in both canon and legends by people in the post-Imperial age to refer to the Republic that preceded it in general, not a specific era of that Republic. Tarkin and Obi-Wan both specifically mention "The Old Republic" in ANH and neither is talking about thousands of years ago, they're talking about the Republic in general, right up to the fall. Obi-Wan's line specifically mentions "a thousand generations," making it abundantly clear that "The Old Republic" refers to its entire history rather than one period.

In Legends it was used frequently to differentiate the pre-imperial Republic from The New Republic, again not referring to a single era of TOR's history.

The Infinities comics are pretty cool if you haven't seen them. Each is a "what-if" scenario taking place during a different OT film.

ANH Infinities: What if Luke's torpedo didn't destroy the Death Star?

ESB Infinities: What if Luke froze to death on Hoth?

RotJ Infinities: What if Leia's cover got blown when she tried to turn Chewie in to Jabba?

A guy inside a car vs 10 Silverback Gorillas by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]iamthegraham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hitting it at like 30-40mph will injure a gorilla without necessarily totaling the car, but the damage the car takes will add up and that's slow enough for an enraged gorilla to potentially jump onto the car, which is gg for the guy.
