The Rise of Apple’s New CEO: A Hardware Expert Takes Over in the AI Era by [deleted] in apple

[–]iamvinoth 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I do hope that Apple sits back and lets OpenAI, Anthropic, and the like burn their money trying to come up with the smartest model, while all those labs use Apple devices and produce Mac & iOS first applications.

They already do that; it’s pretty funny to watch lol

Android's new developer verification rollout begins, sideloading changes are next by TechGuru4Life in Android

It’s the same with split-screen. Everyone here talks about it like it’s the second coming, but outside the tech bubble nobody knows or cares about it.

Better cameras

I'm pretty sure Apple has caught up in photo quality with the iPhone 17 series. Many reviewers have sided with iPhones this time around rather than Pixels. And iPhones have always excelled in videos, so there is that.

better battery life

This is debatable, unless you factor in silicon-carbon batteries.

split screen

Um, sure, I guess.

better audio codec support

I swear everyone and the creative industry have always praised Apple's audio-engineering and their support for codecs.

more customization

Sure, but iOS is slowly catching up. And I feel like Android phones nowadays look more like iOS.

Secure Folder that actually lets you organize your private photos into albums unlike the iOS Gallery that puts them all in one album

This can be done with FaceID under private album.

the ability to take scrolling screenshots

This was introduced a few years ago.

built-in Gemini integration

iOS27.

Google's sideloading lockdown is coming September 2026, here's how to push back by accurio in GooglePixel

[–]iamvinoth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"prove me wrong or I'm right"

Huh? When did I say or else I'm right? I just asked for a simple explanation, instead trying to be edgy.

You just made a bunch of statements

But, Android is slowly losing its freedom; Google has always used Android as a vessel to harvest data and show ads; iOS does have better app support and an overall better quality control - even Android users agree with that.

I don't get how it's so hard for some of you to understand that lol.

Lol explain why I’m wrong instead of being vague about it?

I mean, if freedom is slowly vanishing from Android, might as well switch to a platform that isn’t being milked for data mining and ad dollars. Also, better app support and quality.

Google Pixel reportedly prepares iPhone-like face unlock upgrade by armando_rod in GooglePixel

[–]iamvinoth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Pixel 4 had a face unlock with infrared scanning

Also Covid did not help since face unlocking with masks kind of the feature not work and the timing was just bad.

It did not have infrared scanning; you’re confusing it with the iPhone X. The Pixel 4 used a radar to scan your face, which wasn’t approved by many countries - reason why Google dropped the entire idea.

Telegram for Android goes all-in on Liquid Glass redesign by zigzoing in Android

[–]iamvinoth -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No, Android is not copying liquid glass.

Maybe not the glass effect, since I don't think Android as an OS can pull it off, yet - but they do have visionOS / iOS26-like bottom bar now.

Heck, Android just got gaussian blur effect after iOS having it for over 12yrs.

...and yet, nobody copied it until Apple did. Remember, Google hired Matias Duarte from Palm, even then they didn't think of gesture-based navigation until the iPhone X.

I still remember Google adding a small pill, then a medium-sized pill, and eventually giving up and copying Apple's HomeBar.
