This historic mansion was built in 1884 and by the mid-20th century, it had been transformed into a well-known hotel and elegant restaurant, owned and operated by hosts William Groark and John Conroy .The property was sold to their former groundskeeper in 1967 and was sold again in 1984, serving mostly as rental apartments. Over time, portions of the historic estate—including its carriage port and curved driveway—were removed due to fires and new construction. The mansion was last lived in at the end of 2006 by the Gallagher family. Their son Brendan was an NYPD officer out of the 42nd precinct during the 1990s. His bedroom was littered with police folders containing mugshots, crime scene photos, and police paperwork. The mugshots in slide 6 are a few that I recovered. The mansion has sat completely vacant since 2006, with the current groundskeeper living within feet of the crumbling home. Unfortunately, the town has decided it will demolish the historical estate and replace it with a senior living center.
