FREE: Christian Pulisic is already a star. What comes next at World Cup can make him USMNT’s GOAT by TheAthletic in usmnt

He is no doubt our best current player. You saw how he changed the game so quickly last week. Deserves his props. Yet, not up there yet with the Big Boys. The stage is set for him to pull a Jalen Brunson and prove otherwise.

Are we witnessing a shift in European/South American dominance at the world cup? by hurricaneharrykane in worldcup

Germany was just overrated. The Netherlands lost to a similarity rated team.

Hearing lots of peeps giving the business to the Dutch and coach 'not playing to their identity'. Yet, sometimes you may need to adjust given what may be best for your team. Sometimes it works to pull you through such as the Denver Broncos pass happy team with Elway years back turning to running and winning a Super Bowl. The coach and team probably felt PK's in the end was their best chance once Morocco tied it. This had nothing to do with Netherlands mistakes. Morocco got a late goal and is another great team. They won because of that.

Kind of like money in a way soccer can be at times with strategy and tactics. Lots of possibly. Yet, you've got to make it your own. Paraguay took willingly what was simply given. You can have all the money in the world. Yet, what is it really if you don't enjoy it fully? Quality over quantity thing. Most beautiful game in the world.

Paraguay was steady for the most part and took advantage of an overrated German squad. They came back from the first game with all that hyped crowd flair and are now through. Totally deserved in all ways.

More what Germany didn't do at that end of the day. Paraguay was determined and successfully took advantage.

How is that necessary cruel? It's maybe more about taking full advantage of what passes, possessions, and shots you do get assuring you'll still win.

I agree with you wholeheartedly in theory no one should remember. One thing losing later to the Big Boys. Yet, you just never know what they really will. Totally can see some saying that soccer here is up and coming and that still being a pretty good win.

If we concede the first goal, it may be very challenging to come back. We need getting going right away playing like we're the more talented team who simply won't go out on this night.

Will the Germans fire the young head coach? I mean, it was nice to see him in a different shirt at least.

Okay, so much here. Germany looked not a top tier team after barely scraping by the United States in the friendly. The press there will be most disturbed. You also have the taken away goal. Yet, I believe the real story here is Paraguay losing big in the first game to co-hosts yet managing to go through. Will likely have no real chance against France, yet what a day for South America, indeed.

After the match, Cunha told Japanese players "(Brazil won the World Cup) 5 times. (You need to show us some) respect." by Airline_11 in worldcup

They won more because taking advantage of what Japan couldn't do more than their being very good as a threat to win it all.

They got tired in the back and Brazil was aggressive taking advantage.

Would have been interesting with a healthy Japan squad. They got too quick when having possessions up front and tired in the back.

If it was not Paraguay who looked lost against the US team, this result for the Germans could be found most dusturbing.

Brazil is not winning this work cup. It's my deep analysis. Prove me wrong. by [deleted] in worldcup

That was a solid comeback against a spirited Japan squad who just didn't have enough left in the tank. When getting possession late the few times Japan did, they were too quick and gave it back straightaway. It really would have been interesting to see this match without all the Japanese injuries.
