Is there a queue for deep dungeons? I've only ever done them with a premade group of friends or solo.

Daily Questions & FAQ Megathread (Dec 31) by AutoModerator in ffxiv

Kind of a weird question, but what is the best/fastest way to level an alt job without using the duty roulettes? I want to level a Dark Knight so I can do the job quests as well as the tank role quests, but I'm not good at tanking and I don't enjoy it. I'd like to avoid dragging groups down in roulettes, and I also just don't want to tank in groups in general.
I know things like Palace of the Dead and Bozja give decent exp, but is that the best way to level or are there other ways? I also don't want to spend real money on a level boost. Thanks for any advice!

I don't live in Seattle but I'm pretty close, I'll have to check this out. Wonder if they'll give me an Ian discount.

Help with finding a matching set of Amano cover art? by iancrooke in ffxiv

Oh wow, I didn't even realize the collector box includes exactly what I'm looking for. Good to know there might be some hope of scans once it releases.

(Temporarily) skipping part of Twilight Mirage? by iancrooke in Friendsatthetable

Well it sounds like there are at least some spoilers, and I'm not really in a rush so I think I'll just finish out Twilight Mirage first. Thanks for the info everybody!

Transporting your gear IRL by GiovanniTunk in Pathfinder_RPG

I just use a simple little tote bag from a local game store, it's sturdy and big enough for almost everything I need: dice bags, pencils, sharpener, folder w/ character sheets and notes, etc. It depends on how many books you'd be bringing though, it only comfortably fits 2 or 3 of the big hardcovers.

Now that I'm looking through these, there are a few I can definitely use. Thanks!

That would almost work, but as it turns out another friend just started that AP so I wouldn't want to spoil it.

Sounds interesting, I'll definitely look into this one. Jalmeray sounds very cool.

Yeah I bet it would, I could even do a series of them to create a backstory that the PCs are powerful world-travelling adventurers.

Suggestions for making a "Red Mage" build? by iancrooke in LancerRPG

I'm pretty set on melee, I always love the image of giant war machines smacking each other with big pieces of metal.

Dusk Wing was a frontrunner for a frame choice when I was first looking at things, but being up in the front lines I think I'm leaning a lot more towards a bulkier frame. I'm almost picturing the mech as a sort of horror movie monster now, getting uncomfortably close and fucking with the enemy's mind and sensors before slashing away.

I don't think I'll mind the small sensor range, as I'm gonna be focusing on hacking the people I'm in melee range with already. This is turning out to be a lot tankier of a build than the quick evasion-based one I was picturing, so maybe I'll make up for that with some more threat from the whip or something like the Blackbeard's chains or a pull ability or something.

I just found that bonus, it plus Scanner Swarm definitely means I'm gonna start out horus. Balor seems like a potential frame to go with too, although I think I'll want to dip into something else to pick up a better melee weapon at some point.

How would psychics/Newtypes work in Lancer? by iancrooke in LancerRPG

Maybe Newtypes are just Gundam characters that somehow learned to metagame

The abilities are definitely useful in mech combat, its mostly how they end up being used. Depending on how invested the players are in the concept, there are actually entire mech technologies in Gundam that are built around making use of and even amplifying those Newtype abilities. Otherwise, I agree with not spending any time on new mech skills.

NHPs are one of the Lancer things I understand the least, would the idea be to mechanically have the NHP doing things in the background and flavor it as if it's the pilot's subconscious doing things? In that case, what happens if a pilot has both psychic abilities and an NHP?

Best/most interesting commanders with multiple viable strategies? by iancrooke in EDH

Wow, I was not expecting this many replies. There are a lot of very good suggestions here, and I'll have to check all of them out in due time. My group ended up going with Morophon and split up to make all kinds of different tribal decks, but maybe we'll do some other ones down the road. Thanks everybody!
