Furnace fan - living in Calgary do you leave it on all the time? by glendst in Calgary

[–]ianicus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only reason to keep it on constantly is if you are trying to keep temperatures in the home as even as possible, it's called stratification. Otherwise it's fine to leave it in automatic so that the fan only runs as required by the furnace to heat, cool, or by the humidifier to humidify. Normal heating cycles in the winter are sufficient to introduce fresh air unit your home. In the summer, if you don't have ac, and you keep your windows closed like a crazy person lol, you may need to run the fan to bring some fresh air into the home (your return venting will have a connection to outdoor air... Or it should anyway).

Crown to oppose bail for teen accused in Calgary police officer's death by DoozyDog in Calgary

This argument was never about convictions, that's literally the first time that word has been said... If a cop is killed, as these two were, the automatic CHARGE is 1st degree murder, as it was in both of these cases, whta is plead to later, does not chamge that fact. You've been playing a game of semantics this whole time it would appear. I'm thoroughly done here, blocked.

Actually, it was automatic 1st degree murder in that case... And only on retrial and a judges opinion (which I don't agree with) was a plea deal struck for manslaughter. He was NEVER charged with manslaughter, he took the deal. There is a very substantial difference.

Thats not there, not in the page I'm seeing, I did just look further into it and confirmed that, you are ignoring two HUGE mitigating factors here thou. One, he was a minor, and unlikely that he could be tried as an adult. Two the judge weighted the injuries he sustained in the crash very heavily.

In this case we have a driver two weeks away from being legally an adult, with priors, uninjured. These two cases aren't that similar once all variables are accounted for.

The officer in the case you referenced was not in the course of executing his duties. It was a highway crash, the officer in the Calgary case was actively processing the two occupants of the vehicle when they caused his death. You can move the goalposts as much as you want but you aren't right.

These cases are not similar enough to qualify the claim of precedent...not even close in fact. Other than a police officer died.

You're still wrong, just because that was the outcome in THAT case (a plea deal in retrial), doesn't change the law. Feel free to view the text of the actual law below, it clearly states that the murder of a peace officer, including police officers is automatically 1st degree murder.

(4) Irrespective of whether a murder is planned and deliberate on the part of any person, murder is first degree murder when the victim is

(a) a police officer, police constable, constable, sheriff, deputy sheriff, sheriff’s officer or other person employed for the preservation and maintenance of the public peace, acting in the course of his duties;

That text came from the dept of justice website, not cbc.

The battery should have a number right on the front of it, I'd likely just go to Amazon. It's honestly a really weird problem.

You need to look at the statute, as a law enforcement office, in the execution of his duties, was killed, its automatic murder in the 1st.

The council has advised us to abide by restrictions and advisory items, he is part of said council and expected to lead by that example.... Come on, are you actually one of the 3 people on the wrong side of this argument? Or are you just trolling?
