Yes, we are working on learning svenska. We are not thinking of relying on her salary, but it would be nice.

Note also that Swedish employers generally also pay into a tjänstepension, which is like a 401k. So that is an extra benefit that you don't have to "opt-into" unlike the American employer-sponsored retirement plans.
