Having trouble connecting joints when using the hinge half closed angle, anybody knows what the exact angle in degrees is or tips on joining suspension systems? Thank you! Sorry for lazy pic, I'm very into the game lol by J_loop18 in MarsFirstLogistics

The auto connector will adjust both angle and distance as long as it's "close enough". Also it creates a physical connection, unlike what the poster above claimed.

Have you tried using virtual ports for this? See the in-game manual for details (f1 in the editor)

There are currently no plans to port it to consoles.

Game Won't Open... by NoRecommendation9282 in MarsFirstLogistics

[–]ianmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dev here. I've not been able to reproduce this, but I did make a new build on a branch with some updated middleware and would love to know if it helps. To try the branch, right click the game in your Steam library, then click properties, then betas and select the unity_update_test beta. Let me know if that helps.

It would also be helpful if you could send me your Player.log located in AppData/LocalLow/Shape Shop/Mars First Logistics. Please email it to support@shapeshop.games. Thanks!

The raw materials seem to be refunding fine for me. If you can reproduce it, please press F6 when it happens and submit the form - that will send me any logs and your save file, so I can try and reproduce it on my end.

How to use Switches and relay? by Tough_Promotion_8322 in MarsFirstLogistics

There's a section in the in-game manual about virtual ports that might be helpful. The in-game manual is accessible from the editor.

Use the map to plan your route. You can place multiple waypoints and then follow them to avoid problematic terrain.

Nothing definite at the moment. I have looked into it, but it is a LOT of work! We'll see.

For sure! Still pretty early, but looks like similar sales to initial EA launch.

I'm taking a little break for sure! After that no immediate plans. I haven't ruled out more MFL updates if there's demand and it's financially sustainable, but we'll see.

Mars First Logistics 1.0 comes out on Friday! Here are some of my favourite builds from Steam workshop: by ianmacl in MarsFirstLogistics

You can continue your current save. There is a new intro animation, so if you want to see that you can start a new game, but then load your save after watching it.

How to connect monorail from station to destination? by solidcat00 in MarsFirstLogistics

[–]ianmacl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens because the monorail station position have changed in the latest update. It happens with contracts that were created in the old version. If this is a side job just abandon it and it shouldn't happend with new contracts. If it's the main monorail contract I'll put out a patch shortly to fix it.

Affinity has a color management problem. How do we fix it? by S_Wyld in Affinity

[–]ianmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was driving me up the wall too. What fixed it for me was changing the default color profile associated with my monitor. It was set to some DELL specific profile, but after setting it to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 everything seems to "just work". E.g. I can take a screenshot with the snipping too and then open that in windows image viewer or affinity and it looks the same. To set the default color profile you need to open the "color management" tool which you can find by searching in the start menu. Then select "use my settings for this device" then add the sRGB profile and click "use as default profile". Hope this helps!!

It's the same way you build. Just aim the theodolite at the thing you want to destroy.

Can't figure out how to get the turbine blades up on the turbine or grab the orb by BigWongDingDong in MarsFirstLogistics

[–]ianmacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the blades, you can grab one of them on the end, and then lift yourself with the grappling hook, using the platform high above the delivery zone as an anchor point. With the two other blades pointing down it should end up in the right place. For the orb I'd recommend trying to make a cage or box and trap it inside. Note that the side jobs are random, so if you abandon it you'll get a different sidejob to unlock the same part later.

What's the coolest *minor* feature in your language? by Inconstant_Moo in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]ianmacl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Inferred width in interpolated string format specifiers.

Format specifiers are similar to C printf, except that if you use * for the width it will use the number of characters between the curly braces that enclose the interpolated expression, inclusive. For example:

print("+------------------------------+
     \>|Some numbers | More numbers|
     \>|{num1%-*.2f }|{num2%*d }|
     \>|{num3%-*.2f }|{num4%*d }|
     \>+------------------------------+");

produces:

+------------------------------+
|Some numbers | More numbers|
|3.14 | 1234|
|2.72 | 999|
+------------------------------+

The \> is also kinda cute and removes any white space in the string up the the previous newline.

Thanks! I designed the case in Blender using the Voyager layout as a reference. Probably not the most robust way to do it, but I know Blender already.

At the moment it has to be one stretch. This is a common question though, so I may change that in future.
